Are we entitled to EU261 compensation?

We were flying yesterday from CFU to DUB which was due to depart at 15:05 and land at 17:00.

It didn’t take off until 16:19 and had to land in BGY and then continue to DUB.

Overall it was:
16:19 - Depart CFU
18:16 - Land in BGY
19:30 or 19:45 - Land in DUB

The reason for the unscheduled stopover was because the wind direction was unfavourable and the aircraft was fully loaded, had we taken on the full amount of fuel needed for CFU to DUB we wouldn’t have been able to take off.

We were just shy of 3 hours late.

I had 2 claims in, one needed further info which was given then two days later the strikes started so it got caught up in that. Rang EI today so they have expedited it.

I had 4 people including 2 adults and 2 under 5. does everyone get delayed flight compensation? The flight was 4 hours late landing.

Google it. There are 3 tiers depending on the distance.

3 of us were due to fly to JFK on 31/5 & flight was cancelled (non weather or strike related), put in a claim and all 3 of us got the €600 compensation less than 3 weeks after submitting it so fair play to AL. So I certainly can confirm each adult gets the compensation but no idea on children.

The airline can't control the wind or MTOW because of the wind, extraordinary circumstances so no EU261 even if you were more than 3 hours delayed
