Dog licking paw

My schnauzer has started licking his left paw a lot, top of the paw, just above the nails back to his ankle joint. We have checked for cuts or thorns etc, looked between his toes, cut back the hair to see the skin but can't find anything. He does not appear to be in pain or have a sore spot.

Any ideas what this could be about?

I would check with your vet first, there could be plenty reasons for that. Some will be hard to spot by the eye.

An allergy to something in grass this time of year?

A fellow dog owner ,whose Cocker spaniel was doing this told me she gives him a piriton every day.

Ticks are pretty common this time of year, they bury under the skin so they can be pretty hard to spot.

There are other potential causes, so a trip to the vet might be your best course of action.

My sisters dog did this and turned out it was skin allergies. Vet is the best person to advise on this.

My Frenchie excessively licks her paws. When it's not them, she's licking me or something else. She seems very content and relaxed while doing it. Just wonder why. Her tongue will fall off one of these days.
