I need to get a skip to get rid of stones/soil and some general stuff like old tiles etc.

Firstly I'm not sure what size I need. I dug up 12m2 of soil down to 25cm, and this ended up filling 6 plastic tonne bags which I'm using to store the stones/soil until I transfer to the skip.

Is that equivalent to a midi, or do I need to go larger?

Secondly, should I go for a traditional skip or one of those KeyGreen plastic ones?

12m^2 x .25m is 3m^3, which is 4 cubic yards, the size of a midi. So it might seem like a midi is enough.

But loose soil is not as dense as compacted soil in the ground. As evident by that fact it filled 6 tonne bags. Check the size of the tonne bags, but by gut feeling is they are 1cubic yard and you'll need a standard skip (6 cubic yards).

Do the bags have lifting straps? You could also see if anyone was able to lift the tonne bags are they are. Although might not be cheaper, its less effort.

The bags are at the back of a terraced house with no side entrance so unfortunately the lot has to be brought through the house bit by bit so the bags need to be emptied.

Yeah was wondering why it ended up taking 6 bags given how small the area was, the soil density must be it.
