Broken Golf Brolly

I bought what I thought was a decent golf brolly a couple years ago (Titleist Tour double canopy about €80). Hasn't had a massive amount of use and is in perfect condition…. well almost. The clip that is supposed to keep it up is not locking into place and when it does, just snaps back out after a minute.

Someone told me a while back that I should bring it back but I dismissed it with no receipt. I've been using a rubber clamp to keep it up when needed, but it's not great.

I just realised I actually bought it through my McGuirks account online so have the receipt there. Is it worth bringing back?

Failing that, has anyone got any tips on fixing the clip or a better solution to keep it up?

DId a repair on a TW brolly.

Drilled small hole ans use a pin through to keep in open position.

If in warranty, mcquirks will honour it.

    Online receipt is totally valid.

I don't know what the latch/mechanism looks like but you may be out of luck on warranty. Titleist stuff is 1year only and McGuirks will stick to that unless they make an exception. Give them a buzz.

To repair what you have I've no idea but likely may have to take it apart and look at the lock/clip on the shaft. There may be something not holding in position properly or crap blocking a spring. Perhaps muck, corrosion or lube/gunk. Try blasting around the area with compressed air to free it up and then a few shots of wd 40 or some grease. It's worth a punt.

If the metal latch is worn, try tapering the shaft, to allow the latch engage better.
