I’m flying to Liverpool from Shannon on Monday but can’t find my passport. Will I be allowed into the uk with a drivers licence? Or is there anyway of getting an emergency document or something?

    Aer Lingus - yes

Ryanair - not a hope in hell.

I'd highly recommend people get a passport card and simply keep it in your wallet. Credit card size and valid for all European travel

If Ryanair you can fly into the UK with a drivers licence but they will not let you fly out of the UK with a drivers licence.

Aer Lingus will accept drivers licence both directions.

    Ryanair is a giant airline.

They fly to / from almost 300 destinations in almost 40 countries.

They use a single set of rules no matter where you fly. That ensures no unambiguity and all staff get the same training and can work in various airports.

Hence the reason for their passport rule and the absolute strictness of it.

Only exception is travel within the same country
