    Hi,

I have a budget of €500 for one night in a 5* hotel in Munster.

Currently thinking either The Cliff House or The Europe. Is there anywhere else I should be considering? Which out of those two is the better option?

Better option for what though. Big difference between cities and what else you plan to do for that night

Sorry should have clarified. I expect we will spend the majority of the day/night in the hotel itself, making use of the pool/spa and generally relaxing. Likely eat at the hotel too. So the surrounding area isn't really important aside from the view it provides.

Castlemartyr Resort - I'm going there later in the month and got one night B&B plus dinner for €422.

Have you considered the Monart (Wexford so not actually in Munster)?

Well Ardmore is a beautiful place. There is a great cliff walk which starts outside the hotel and a lovely Beach. If you want to eat in the restaurant though be prepared to pay a lot. There a a small number of cheaper eateries in the village.

I recommend the Montenotti Hotel in Cork city. You will enjoy the spa. Good food too.

You'll be lucky to get an overnight stay with breakfast in either hotel for a €500 budget unless you go mid-week.

The Europe you’d be going over-budget but it’s genuinely the best hotel/leisure centre/spa I’ve ever stayed at

Is it for a special occasion? Seriously I’d be booking there anyway

FOTA Island Resort comes to mind as a luxurious hotel, with all facilities, close to Cork city but does not have a view over anything except its own lovely grounds

The Europe in Killarney has splendid views, and a great reputation.

In Cork city itself my favourite is the Kingsley for its beautiful outdoor hot tub with views across the Lee. Actually best enjoyed on a rainy winter’s evening! It’s hard to beat, restaurant has this view of you book a table early, food is great. You can book a bedroom overlooking the Lee too, it will cost more, but I’m guessing this is a special treat. Food is very good.

The Cliff House in Ardmore is reputed to be very good but expensive. Broadcaster Ray Darcy stays there regularly, but he can afford to do.

My personal favourite location of all hotels is the Parknasilla Resort by Tahilla on Kenmare Bay. Has all the facilities, gardens grounds, islands, hot tub, pool, sandy cove, and very elegant dining room, but when I last stayed there the fish was still frozen in the middle. Maybe the chef has changed, I would check up on that if I seriously considering staying there again.
