Can a company take away your shift allowance?

If you are working for a number of years in a company receiving a shift allowance is it ok for an employer to take away that allowance if they change business model to a round the Sun model meaning you no longer are required to work shift hours?

And if this company now gave everyone else in the team their shift allowance as part of their salary instead except one individual, without reason, can this be treated as unfair?

These things are heavily fact-dependent. But if you're saying that (a) nobody has to work shifts any more and (b) as a result of that they all lose the opportunity to earn shift allowance and (d) they are all comensated for that by a hike in basic salary except (d) one of them isn't, on the face of it that looks unfair. But the first two things you should ask yourself about this situation are: (1) would the company accept this description of events and, if not, how would they describe them, and (2) what justification would the company put forward for treating one employee differently from all the others?

Tl;dr: you need to view this situation from both sides before you can make any meaningful judgment about whether it is fair or not.

They have not taken away your shift allowance.

You will still get the allowance IF you work shifts. But - you don't.
