Hey guys, just a quick one. BMW charge a €995 delivery charge when buying a new car. Does that apply to new builds from the factory only or a car on the shop floor too?

Tell them you will fly Ruinair to Germany and collect it yourself, will work out way cheaper.

It's charged on all new cars as to be fair it didn't grow there.

Bargain hard though and see how you get on.

Funny how you can buy a huge fridge from China and they don't charge you extra for delivery.

Ill pick it up from the factory directly, It worked out cheaper that way.

The car on the showroom floor had to be delivered to the dealer too so it will be included in the price alright.

That said you should be able to negotiate more on a car they have in stock that has been sat in and played with more than a custom order.

I referenced the stated price of a new Toyota on Toyota.ie today to a Toyota sales guy and queried the almost €4k 'additional' costs. He referred to preparation charges, delivery cost and VRT!!! I walked away…

Is this not a case of false advertising on behalf of Toyota Ireland????

The 'delivery' (incl PDC check) charge is almost pure gravy for the dealer. Afaik the price the dealer pays for the car includes delivery from Germany (or wherever) to the port in Ireland so the only actual delivery you're paying for is transport from port to dealer.
