    Hi,

I have a Sony TV, model no. KDL-40W705C

    https://www.sony.ie/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs/kdl-40w705c/specifications

I want to get Saorview so I can watch RTE/Virgin as I don't have any TV provider at present, how can I go about doing this these days? Would I need to buy a Saorview box or is there an app or something I can download to access free terrestrial TV? Is using an aerial still an option?

    Thanks!

That TV has a digital terrestrial tuner, so once you have a signal you should be able to get all the Saorview channels. You'll need to plug an aerial in, but which type depends on how strong the signal is where you are. Try a cheap set-top aerial first. If that doesn't work you may need an attic or outside aerial. Other posters here will probably give you good advice on what you'd need, depending on where you live.

Bear in mind that there is also a satellite tuner on that TV, so if you have a satellite connection (from a previous Sky installation for instance), you could connect that and tune in the free-to-air satellite channels.
