Flight diverted to Dublin Airport due to medical issue and disruptive passenger

Seems to be a few stories lately of things going wrong on flights.


Flight UA998 from Brussels to New York's Newark Airport diverted to @DublinAirport this afternoon due to reports of two separate incidents - a disruptive passenger and a suspected medical issue - on board.

Two separate incidents on the same flight a medical issue and a disruptive passenger what a nightmare.

Fancy starting out in Brussels expecting to go to New York and less than an hour later being on the ground in Dublin due to two separate incidents.

Sick pax may have displayed concerning symptoms resembling a serious infectious disease, maybe a bit like the pax who died not long back on a Lufthansa out of Bangkok due to a massive haemorrhage caused by ruptured oesophageal varices (from liver disease), where some other pax on board that flight were concerned it was Ebola or some such issue. Seems to have coincided with a disruptive pax, perhaps that pax was likewise “expressing” extreme concern about what they thought might be a contagious nature of the condition of the sick pax, who knows.

”PAX” is the accepted aviation abbreviation of “passengers”. An alternative is “SLF” or “self loading freight”

I tend not to seek out specific forums that much but more often respond with threads that pop up on timeline as trending on the mobile site. I often don’t even glance what forum they are posted in. A lot of Boardsies do use abbreviations all over the place that I have to Google to learn their meaning. Overall I would have imagined PAX to be a familiar term in the context of the thread as passengers are the key people here. Anybody using an online travel booking service would be familiar too. 🙄
