I have really weird dreams on Lamictal too. Extremely vivid. I asked my consultant and he said because Lamictal is also for bipolar so it's also a mood stabilizer this is probably why the dreams are messed up. I'm on 175mg twice a day.

Mood Stabiliser, now that's a phrase I don't get at the start. Never mind dreams, I can get fierce emotional downswings since going on it.

Nothing major just crying like a baby during Disney films or even a well made advert.

When I was first given Lamictal the doc mentioned it's also a mood stabiliser for bipolar. I asked if my mood will be any different and she said it should't affect my mood as I don't have any depression issues. My first medication was Keppra and that used to make me really cranky.

Do you have the phone number for the epilepsy advice nurse? It's a Cork no so I think they'll only speak to people registered in your area. They are really good for answering questions about the different meds. I can PM you the Cork no if you want and they might have a no for your area.

Ah thanks. I have the number for my local one in Dublin. Never thought of raising it with the hospital before as I don't think it's a serious enough side effect.

Mid 30s first ever seizure too by the way.

I was diagnosed at 35. I'm 45 now. Pretty rare apparantly. Best of luck mate. It can be scary when a seizure happens as you know. 3 years free now for me and the Lamictal is by far the most effective stuff I've taken. Keppra made me sleep all day and cranky. Can't remember the name of the next stuff cause it wipped my memory. Couldn't find my shoes in the cupboard and it turns out they were on me. Take care Busman.

You too. Only been on Lamictal long term, never anything else. Need to count back the years. Sure I'm 3 and a half years seizure free now.

Knowing when to slow down and get an early night when stressed or working too long is a game changer. I hope you're doing something similar to listen to the aul body when it's telling you to take a break.

I'm on 150mg twice a day, 300mg altogether, I've heard of people who were on less though having mad dreams and nightmares

Didn't realise there was more replies on this page,

I totally agree with you there, knowing the limitations is as good as anything , I'm the same as you, over 3 and a half years free, was first diagnosed at 18, but I definitely get the petite mal

That's my issue too, they are extremely vivid, it would confuse you for a long time after

hi, does different neurologist view driving regulations differently based on eeg results after first seizure. My consultant advised no driving for 12 months following first seizure , could I get a second option?

You can absolutely get another opinion just be cautious as it may disappoint and agree with current so it's potentially a matter of expense and willingness to accept the current outlook

I'm pretty sure 12 months is standard across the board.

I have that problem also. There was one last night, and an item Id been researching not even before bed, but during yesterday was a key part of the dream, and it was so vivid that when I woke it took me a few minutes to decide it had not been real.

Yes the most worrying part is you start questioning whether it had been part of the day before's events
