    Well done Adair.

How did Little ever get selected to play in the IPL?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,581 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

chance of a run out but no Irish fielder running into the stumps, instead ball watching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,581 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

fairly low risk stuff in the main from India. Waiting for the bad balls and launching into them. Don’t need anything else really.

Seems that will be the way to play in these conditions, could make for some interesting games down the line when both teams play like that

Pant got very lucky three deliveries ago… skiied one but landed between 3 fielders…

Is Little any good really? Can't remember him ever doing much against a good team. Always seems to go for plenty, rarely bowls a boundary free over. If he wasn't left handed he'd struggle for a game

Little he always has a LOT of very vocal support in the crowd, at matches I’ve been to anyway. Especially among the teenagers but it’s a thorough mystery as to why. Yes he’s quick but not the best or most intelligent Irish cricketer….

    Good catch by Dockrell,

with more between the ears, we would have had more to defend in the 2nd innings. dropped catch then, and a few chances landing safe we were never going to do it.

    india finish on 97/2.

well, all over… fair to say we didn’t get close to laying a glove on them… India chased down the runs without having to face the last 46 deliveries of their batting innings 😵‍💫 … no shame to lose especially to such a quality opponent but that was such a non competitive match.

We took only 2 wickets, scored just 96 runs and were bowled out after 16 overs.

Saw an interview with Bumrah there loving the pitch and the help it provided himself and his other seamers… shame our bowlers couldn’t find any assistance but the number of full tosses and deliveries by them on or down leg, or just similarly gone awry…. Was too much….not enough consistency or cleverness….

Thought the bowlers did well, Little was disappointing. India just handled the pitch the way it should've been handled, they rode out the tough periods and punished bad balls once settled in.

Compare the two approaches, the best team in the world toughed it out, waited patiently for the right moment to push on and punished bad balls. A team routinely beaten by associate nations come out all guns blazing, tried to hit every delivery for six, threw away their wickets carelessly and got beaten very easily. Brave attacking cricket isn't always about going at 12s an over.

No shame losing to India, we expect that, there is a shame in being so comprehensively beaten through shear naivety with the bat

Fair play to Rohit Sharma, he complained about that shîtshow of a pitch before the match which he confirmed in an interview now on TV and even in victory he has now complained about it again in front of camera…. Didn’t need to say anything, his team won he could have stayed quiet but he has just been outrightly scathing of it.

Worlds cricketing media in agreement the whole of cricket appalled that we can get to a World Cup and players and fans have to deal with competing in and watching that crap.

Can’t prove that you can prepare a safe, reliable cricket pitch….then you should not host the tournament. Simple really but politics and ‘opportunity’ trump common sense and correct thinking…. This is on the ICC…

Everything about it has been a bit of a sham. The outfield was as slow I've seen anywhere and then there have been lots of claims of extortionate ticket prices and parking fees. Building a pop-up stadium in a couple of months and just moving in a drop in pitch which hadn't ever been used until Monday was perhaps not the brightest idea. Since this is an ICC event, this is all on them and their responsibility.

Their showcase match on Sunday between India and Pakistan is going to be a disaster if it is similar.

Pakistan started in a bit of strife against the USA but have recovered again somewhat although they have just lost 2 wickets in 2 balls.

Trend of the tournament so far is a tough start facing the new ball, before the bat being on top in the final 10 overs. Scotland's unusual 90-0 being the outlier so far.

USA 84-1 after 11 and need 76 more from 54 balls.

They really should win from here…….

USA got totally bogged down by very disciplined Pakistan bowling but yet somehow force a super-over with a final ball 4.

Pakistan with some great play to recover. But they really seem to be panicking in the super over

Incredible win for the US and, dare I say, ‘a great advertisement for the game’ in America.

That was very exciting, well done USA

Fully deserved too. They were the better side on the day for sure.

Means Ireland will have to win out from here and hope India hammer everyone else.

Turned it on with 3 overs to go and the kids started complaining. But, as the game came to a climax they were loving it. Their mother however, not so pleased that they were up late. Disaster super over for Pakistan, very untidy bowling.

That was the 1st big shock.

Pakistan only scored a single boundary, a 4 from a leg bye, not even off the bat, in their super over. 13 runs in total from it.

US scored 18 off Amir, who was one of Pakistan’s better bowlers over the US innings but shat the bed at the end there.

Saw something that the forecast for Pakistan game is v bad (although that is a far out forecast) if that was rained out then wins against Canada and USA would be enough assuming India beat USA

Mind you beating USA right now far from a definite

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Safe to say that the performance on Wednesday has drained a bit of confidence in beating the USA despite the rankings of both side.

Ireland playing on the same pitch today vs Canada as they did against India, so at least they know what is ahead of them. Hopefully it will play better today.

the ICC have criticised the US about the piss poor pitches that were produced in New York…….

    https://www.skysports.com/cricket/news/12123/13149370/icc-admits-t20-world-cup-pitches-in-new-york-not-yet-up-to-scratch

All a bit ‘cover our arse’ about it by the ICC…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,581 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Ireland win the toss and will bowl.

Young in for White the only change.

I have my credit card handy because if Ireland end up bowling a shîtload of full tosses and wides I’ll be throwing something through the TV…..

Have to be way more disciplined with the bowling.

First error, their batsmen nicks it, Paul Stirling adamantly dismissive of going for a review, he’d nicked it. 😖

First wicket, Adair gets Dhaliwal, he’s dangerous by all accounts.

Yes…cheap wicket as Dhaliwal chips it straight to the fielder.

    Horrible over from Little that.

Pitch seems to be playing a bit better today although it could be poor bowling.

28/2 now. nice catch on the boundary

great over from Young, WICKET ! tight and tidy line and lengths, only a single from it and a wicket with the last delivery, great bowling he gave them zilch in that over, built pressure and got his wicket.👏🏼

Then McCarthy comes on and bowls absolute shîte 😼
