I hope the Canadians turn off the power they supply to Michigan and the surrounding states. Maybe a few weeks in the dark would focus these people's minds. I don't specifically wish harm on anyone - but people do need to wake up and smell the sh*t that Trump and his lackies are shovelling.

Its hilarious that America will end up with tariffs on them longer then Canada will. And people claim trump is a smart man and strategist,

I’ve been in Canada for 12 years, Canadians are friendly and very nice, but my lord they can be petty if they are pushed.

What was Trump trying to say again? Even the opposition in Ukraine don’t want wartime elections.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,397 ✭✭✭dogbert27

What opposition party in a war time war torn country wants to take on the responsibility?!

Just like America it was Biden administration who had to take on the economic mess of the Trump administration post Covid and have the opposition make absurd claims about how he wrecked the economy.

It was the Biden administration that had to execute the deal the Trump administration made with the Taliban resulting in the sxxt show we say on the evacuations and the opposition saying it would have never happened under Trump.

The Biden administration continued the Trump trade agreements with Canada and Mexico and now Trump blaming Biden for following through on a sxxt deal that he proclaimed to be the best in the world.

It's much easier to be the opposition in hard times.

It's been 6 or so weeks since they have been in charge and it has just been as chaotic as the end of his first term was. But humans are not very good at remembering the past it seems. I see Musk is now trying to say he is not responsible for the firings we are seeing. This was obvious from the start, Trump (and Musk) will never take responsibility for their own actions. They will always find someone else to blame. If they get their way and introduce tariffs, remove immigrants (legal and illegal) and cut government spending by removing those not loyal to them and the economy is still lethargic they will find someone else to blame. They will never take responsibility.

    https://apnews.com/article/musk-doge-trump-blame-federal-workers-republicans-2945026366f42b0879087f2e7d4b9d71

"Billionaire Elon Musk is telling Republican lawmakers that he is not to blame for the firings of thousands of federal workers, including veterans, as pushes to downsize the government. Instead, he said in private talks this week that those decisions are left to the various federal agencies.

The message from one of President Donald Trump’s most influential advisers came as Republicans publicly support Musk’s work at the Department of Government Efficiency digging up waste, fraud and abuse, but are privately raising questions as personnel cuts ripple through communities across the nation.

“Elon doesn’t fire people,” said Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., after a dinner-time pizza meeting with Musk in the basement of the Capitol.

“He doesn’t have hiring and firing authority,” added Hudson, who leads the House Republicans’ campaign arm. “The president’s empowered him to go uncover this information, that’s it.”"

This is the same tripe that Farage comes out with. He did not spout conspiracy theories about immigrants being responsible, he just asked questions. Musk is just uncovering information, that is all he is doing.

"Trump suggested that Cabinet and agency leaders would take the lead, but Musk could push harder down the line.

“If they can cut, it’s better. And if they don’t cut, then Elon will do the cutting.”

He had said in the earlier post that Musk and Cabinet officials will meet every two weeks to advance their cost-cutting goals"

And there we have it, he is not responsible, but he is responsible, but when he is not responsible and you do not cut the way he says it, then he will be responsible and start the cuts. This is a pantomime, comedy script writers do not have to do any creative thinking, they are providing the material for the future when people may be ready to reflect how stupid this all is.

Musk must be fretting in real time about the Tesla sales and general/official backlash against the brand

Where’s that now, sales are up in the UK & Ireland. Model change in Germany skewing sales numbers.

I find this sentiment all good n well but what makes you think we can just plow on with our strong economies and have all the money for this without the US.

with his Irish/ American voters in mind he just tells them via the Oval Office that their taxes are going to fund the Irish Oligarcs in Ireland and do they. Want that or something along those lines. Because Trump said it then it must be true and it must be to the disadvantage of the Irish /Americans

All I see around me every day are Teslas, including cybertrucks galore. I'm not sure that this 'backlash' isn't just an online thing, at least in the US anyway

Every president declares March as Irish American month. Don't read anything in to it.

"Tesla has experienced a rocky start to the year in Europe. Sales are down across European markets, including a 63.4% YoY drop in France for January. In Germany, hosting the EV maker's only European factory, 1277 new Teslas were registered in the first month of the year, a 59.5% decrease compared to 2024.

Across the whole of Europe, sales dropped 45% in the opening month of 2025. In January 2024, 18,161 Teslas were registered across Europe - this year, that number has dropped to just 9,945 Teslas.

It's the same story in the UK. Despite EV sales overall increasing by 41.6% in January, Tesla sales fell by 7.78%.

Tesla's stock price has also dropped, down more than 30% compared to the high of December. Such a drop has impacted Elon Musk's personal fortune, down nearly $90 billion in the first 2 months of 2025 - from over $486 billion in December to around $400 billion in February 2025."

    The two aren't connected?

Also, OP states that Trump is helping the genocide in Gaza continue. So did Biden. And if the almighty Obama had been president, he'd have done the same. This isn't something you can use to beat Trump with.

the worry going forward if The US remains a NATO member is twofold:-

    (1) It cannot be trusted to ‘help’ re article 5 as it can find some reason not to do so eg it has not lived up to the 2% minimum investment in arnaments . The US could up this fig on the day so as to suit its purpose. The US could also decide that the NATO member being attacked and expecting article 5 to ‘kick in ACTUALLY STARTED THE WAR

    (2) I assume NATO members constantly share intelligence information and now there is ABSOLUTLY no guarantee that the US will not share this with Russia

Well, this is what they voted for, buckle up and tuck in America.

The USA were bastrds back in the 80's when you lived there. Vietnam, Cambodia and their various right wing dictator installing coups in South America should have been fresh in your mind.

Just nice to Europeans though which is why you were happy to take the soup then but you say you won't now.

Tesla sales are dropping pretty much across the board in Europe, China etc. Ireland and UK are more likely an exception because right hand drives are ordered months in advance. And it's only gonna get worse for Tesla if those tariffs are attempted, you'll get a backlash similar to Canada's.

Also seeing Teslas everywhere, doesn't mean a whole lot. I see them everywhere too. Sales of new Teslas is what matters. On top of that, Tesla is now by default gonna be less appealing in terms of resales. So another reason people are less likely to buy them. It's definitely not isolated to an Internet fad.

Trump did expand the list of weapons the US would sell Israel so he's harder in for his support. Also neither Biden or Obama would have egged on ethnic cleansing. Trump called for it which appeared to even shock Israel in terms of the bluntness.

UK sales are up with the figures released the other day. There’s a model change over from there best selling car at the moment. Go try and buy one and see how long you have to wait.

You’re believing the propaganda that we know the dems paid for, that information was released a week or two ago.

100%. From the Putin playbook . Words such as ‘create confusion’, ;blame somebody else for the actions’, ; obstrufacate’; ‘ smokescreen, ‘ flood the zone, COMEs TO MIND

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,337 ✭✭✭Field east

Maybe the sales garages are selling them off a a big discount knowing what is coming down the road?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,593 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

The fact you're relying on Irish and UK sale is more desperation. Firstly, we're a slightly weird car market cause right hand drive so cars are ordered months in advance. Secondly Ireland only sold a couple of hundred. We're a drop in the ocean for overall sales. That doesn't apply to the UK but the right hand drive part does.

European sales are down over 60%, China's are down 51%. So why do you think Irish and UK sales which amount to an anomaly are more relevant? Congrats to them for selling more in Ireland and the UK while the overall continent plummeted in sales?

The main problem with that is that they'd be primarily hitting blue states. If this was Wyoming, the Dakotas and Wisconsin then plough ahead, but its Minnesota and New York. I agree they need to hurt maga somehow.

EUR/USD has had its best performing week since December 2008. Rather than recent talk of parity or below with the dollar the Euro is heading to $1.10. It's the first Friday of the month when Nonfarm Payrolls get published later today in the US which could be fascinating.
