I’d need more information to form an opinion on it.
I don’t agree with funding politicians for political favours in principle.
How do you feel about Musk etc funding Trump?

So a MAGA appointee says something and we're just supposed to assume that it's true? Is that the expectation?

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

Exactly - So far NONE of the supposed "exposés" of USAID have turned out to be remotely true , it's been taking a sliver of information , wrapping it up in lies and MAGA dog food and feeding it to the baying masses on Twitter to promote.

According to the responses to the Grennell Tweet - The Tate Brothers were clearly targeted by Romanian Authorities funded by USAID for being "anti-woke" and not at all because they were engaged in all kinds of scummy illegal behaviour.

Yep, they've claimed Ireland held a diversity musical. Misrepresented some politico subscriptions etc. Honestly just reads like certain posters are trusting an administration that are notoriously dishonest.

    Busy day yesterday for Trump.

He played a round of golf yesterday morning with none other that Tiger Woods in Florida before flying to New Orleans for the Superbowl.

I wonder who won the golf.

Trump wants Gaza, Greenland, Panama. Ireland probably next 🤪

    Keeping himself busy I see.

So far he has spent over 40% of his Presidency in Florida playing Golf at huge expense to the US Federal Government.

All ready far more than the $8M spent with Politico over the last 4 years and he's only a few weeks in to his term in Office.

But , something something Government waste and Fraud…. Grrrr!!!!

    Playing golf and watching football?

I suppose I was "busy" yesterday too.

I wonder how the checks and balances the US system supposedly has are holding up.

The term 'anti-woke' has unironically become the new word for 'ignorant'. Being ignorant is to be celebrated now…

For too long have schools, colleges, media and the state tried to make populations less ignorant. It's time now to hit the reset button on that

Did the $50 million (which Trump then rounded up to $100 million the next day) for condoms to Hamas come from USAID ? I wouldn’t trust a single word out of the mouth of anyone connected with this administration. They are lying until and unless proved otherwise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭ronjo

They probably wasted a massive chunk of that on his golf and superbowl fun yesterday

    Wait wait

Puts down cup of coffee and pushes away keyboard

Is a friend of Russia “concerned” about foreign interference in other countries business?

    Really 🤔 😂

Good to see him hard at work to really change America. Nothing like a round of golf with someone who respects women as much as he does.

He also left the Super Bowl early because his team were losing, the man is a baby.

I wish Trump and his entire cabinet would play 2 rounds of golf every day in a competition, and of course Donnie would win every time. Perfect dolution to the world's problems.😁

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,747 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

It wasn't $50M on condoms and it didn't go to the Gaza Strip in the middle east.

There was an amount of money spent on sexual health info/products in GAZA PROVINCE in Mozambique to help curb the spread of HIV - Condoms were probably part of that expenditure.

Some 19 year old fan-boi working for Musks secret army saw the word Gaza and that was all that was needed for the Twitter bullsh!t machine to fire up the MAGA faithful to spin it out of all recognition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,334 ✭✭✭trashcan

I know. I think the sum of money involved was something like $49,000 ? (Open to correction on that.) I was using it as an example of the rubbish that they come out with, as was made clear by Trump then just doubling the amount. As I said, my default position is that they are lying. I’ve seen some comments on Facebook and YouTube saying “ oh it’s just an audit, what’s the problem ? “ And of course it’s just coincidence that some of the first bodies they’ve gone after are those that were taking on Musks companies. So, no agenda there at all. I mean, Jesus, could ther be a clearer conflict of interest ?

The gas thing is the crap is flying so fast out of his mouth that yesterdays crap is already forgotten. Taking Greenland already feels like a distant memory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,802 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Was this before or after they sent $50m worth of condoms to Hamas?

Weaponizing the Govt agencies and using them against one's opponents - as in telling telling one's Dept Sec's and agency heads they have to swear fealty to Trump - as an extra loyalty requirement not contained anywhere in the constitution?

The Pentagon funding and other agencies, would it not be better to let sleeping files sleep?

Deleted mention of Area 51, UFO's etc.

King Abdullah II of Jordan is visiting Trump in the White House tomorrow so it'll be worth while watching for the post-meeting media event to see if his idea to send the Palestinian Gaze residents to Jordan and Egypt sits well with the king.

If there's no media event or Trump's press secretary tries to shut down journalists asking questions about the Gaza plan, Gaza and the world will understand.

Anyone who likes Trump's tourist plan for the Gazan real estate should take time to read up on how Tel Aviv's coastline is protected by the IDF.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,032 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

Trump rescinded the traditional invite to the White House for the Super Bowl winning team last night when the Eagles won. When they won in 2018, they refused to come after he spent much of his time as President telling players who kneeled during the anthem that they should be fired.

That in itself is another example of how incompetent he is, he's not a uniter, he's a divider. And a snowflake. They'd probably have turned him down again, who knows, they hadn't commented before the game, but him withdrawing the invite shows his weakness once again. He could have put them on the spot, he folded.

Theres a small chance the courts may slow doge down. The aim is to take apart the federal government until what remains is just departments in the control of trump supporters who will only send funds to company's who are aligned with trump eg vouchers will be sent to people to spend on private schools the federal government controls trillion dollar budgets that fund environmental protect public parks education infrastructure roads water welfare and Medicare and pension payments science research The federal government is the largest employer in America. If it's in a state of chaos it could push America into recession. Thousands of small company's depend to some extent on federal spending federal employees who buy goods services pay rent and the system is under attack by a few doge employees who are too young to buy a beer

The federal government was put into place by acts of Congress what doge is doing is illegal but the problem is it takes time to go to court and file legal actions meanwhile workers are being fired and the management is being replaced by trump loyalists millions of people rely on Medicare and Medicare to stay healthy if you don't have a job in America you have no medical insurance

The whole structure of America depends on a complex group of federal institutions Thousands of companies relay on contracts from the government

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,417 ✭✭✭thereiver

The checks and balances don't work if 1000s of people are fired and managers are replaced by unqualified trump stooges and valuable data is being deleted and government websites are being shut down and the president is ready to ignore the law about proper procedures in the staffing of government agencys and giving doge access to the systems that provide funding to government departments this is an illegal direct attack on the whole system of federal government that has never been seen before

Regarding Arab Americans who voted for Trump and Trump's announcement about the Gaza plans, it's a bit like that parable of the frog and scorpion where the scorpion hitches a ride on the frog's back to go across the river, stinging the frog halfway across and getting them both killed. The scorpion said to the frog, 'Hey, you knew my nature before you agreed…'

Except in the Trump version, the scorpion says to the frog, 'Arab, Mexican…. It's all the same. Laterz.' before flying off on Airforce One.
