Do we know what the European intelligence agencies are basing that assessment on.?Any more detail?

If you looked at certain YouTube channels the past few months you'd think the wheels were coming off ages ago. Daily they seem to post about him making one mistake or f up or another.

The thing is, in the states his popularity remains high, they know that any perceived f.up will barely last a news cycle.

The current one, it's a pretty complex situation. No one really knows yet the wider implications around what has happened in Iran in the past few weeks and it's very easy muddy the waters from a trump perspective.

People do get very exercised around Trumps actions however it would take something massive to oust him.

As stated in other posts the worry is the complete lack of a coherent opposition to what he is doing.

IF Iran suffered badly in the American bombing that Trump ordered then they would fire no more missiles at an American barracks - and Iran have stopped such attacks-

How many American soldiers are serving abroad now- is there any country actually looking rid of its American army-?-

    Thanks.

I feel pretty conflicted as it is good that Trump's incompetence is exposed but it is an unmitigated disaster if the Iranian regime can still threaten its neighbours with nuclear weapons (even if they are just for self defence -safer without them I would say, except for Israel having them in secret )

It is also beyond credulity that the American /World public cannot trust what the US president or the White House claim on these matters even if some operational secrecy is unavoidable.

Well ,they can trust that they are lying....

His support is cratering in the US - He's at record low levels of support.

The MAGA core are still with him , but there is absolutely nothing that will shift them.

He's completely lost the independents and polling shows him completely underwater in every one of the Swing states he won last November.

And they haven't passed any flavour of his budget bill yet….

Which as I said , he really really doesn't want to have to do.

He could have explained away the single strike as a necessary evil to the isolationist wing of MAGA , but a second strike will be much much more difficult , both operationally and politically

Details emerge of secret diplomatic efforts to restart Iran talks

The Trump administration has discussed possibly helping Iran access as much as $30 billion to build a civilian-energy-producing nuclear program, easing sanctions, and freeing up billions of dollars in restricted Iranian funds – all part of an intensifying attempt to bring Tehran back to the negotiating table, four sources familiar with the matter said.

AKA - Trump seeking to re-instate the EXACTLY THE SAME DEAL he blew up to spite Obama which caused 8 years of further pain and hardship in the Middle East and was arguably a significant contributor to the Houthi Rebels activities in Yemen, the October 7th attacks and the subsequent genocide in Gaza.

    Pr!ck….

The bigger thing is why the hell is nobody calling him out on that? He buggered things up so badly in the Middle East and has made the region a much, much, more dangerous place because of stupid and reckless choices.

What did they do? Offer him a site for a golf course?

This is like something you'd see in a bad satire.

Pete Hegseth has been jumping up and down going, "Those intelligence reports are PRELIMINARY! Do you know what PRELIMINARY means?!"

OK, this was more in reference to the leaked Pentagon thing, but I can only assume he'd say the same about other reports coming out. The question is does he have a point or is he just attempting to cover for a U.S. failure to achieve their (ostensible) objective?

Another case of a Trump u- turn?

"US President Donald Trump could extend a July deadline for higher tariffs on imports, the White House has said.

Mr Trump had set 9 July as the deadline after which punitive tariffs on a range of EU goods will take effect, with the EU promising some €95 billion in retaliatory countermeasures.

Asked if there were plans to further the pause, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters: "Perhaps it could be extended, but that's a decision for the president to make."

"The deadline is not critical," she told a media briefing."

Presumably "made in the USA" was removed because it's not strictly true.

The issue they have now is that European intelligence also states that very little was done to put back Irans nuclear program.

Best of luck to Pete on this one.

Trump has a meeting with a load of other U.S citizens today promoting his Big Beautiful Bill and bashing Biden, saying that he had been pushing MAGA for the US and Biden had been attacking the MAGA effort. I might have misheard what Trump said in that excerpt but I think he said Bill Biden when referencing Biden. He might, however, have got his Bills mixed up when he was speaking about Joe Biden then.

    Also

    • US dollar is at lowest value in years
    • US trade deficit is surging suggesting Trump's tariff policy is having opposite affect to that intended

What any journalist worth their weight in salt should do is ask their knowledgeable Russian sources if the Iranian sites are partly or greatly damaged. It doesn't have to be a U.S reporter but WSJ or even Fox would get the W/House team excited and then some. I'd imagine that Putin's friend Medvedev would like to wind Trump up some after his comments about Medvedev, and Putin as well by providing something that would add further to the Trump and Hegseth problems. Imagine Trump trying to deny the facts provided by his friend Putin.

I don't think the Russians would want to stir the pot on this. Both the Trump administration and Iranian one are Russian allies. Last thing they want is to wind Trump up on this and go in for round two of bombing, which could not only upend the Iranian regime but hurt Trump's standing as well.

Point taken about fraternal links being unlikely. I was thinking about cocooning a site where the host nation is likely to be unsure about the mix onsite due to it being hammered by heavy munitions and not just a coolant leak. Some-one seems to have suggested to Trump that was what the vehicle crews might have been doing on site after the bombing.

In today's "is it Donald Trump or Grandpa Simpson?"

Trump wraps his speech on the reconciliation bill:

"Schumer - our great Palestinian senator. He's changed. He used to like Jewish people, now he's totally against Jewish people. It's the most incredible transformation. But who would allow this to happen? Try the weightlifting numbers some day if you want to see some big differences. In a million years the women will never catch these numbers. It's not gonna happen. And it's very demeaning to women. I don't like it when it's demeaning to women."

The further right and left you go the more lies you'll hear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,583 ✭✭✭circadian

None of it makes any sense but the standout is the fact that Schumer, is himself, Jewish.

Can you tell us who on the Left lies like Trump does.

In the last few days we've seen Republicans claim that Trump assassination attempts were carried out by Democrats and separately that they were initiated by Iran. Can you give an example of left leaning lies about real world events that you would think are comparable in imagination.

It depends on whether it's in Greenland or Iran.

1kg is it's mass but it's weight depends on the gravitational field (which is stronger at the poles due to the shape of the earth).
