Narrator - the poster didn't, in fact, understand perfectly

He can call for those in masks to get arrested, but if they haven't broken a law it'll be wrongful arrest and get sued up the wazoo.

The Felon says it would be 'great thing' if Homan arrests Newsom: 'I would do it'

The fragile little baby hates Newsom for the same reasons he hated Obama…they're better looking, smarter and more popular than him.

I dunno, but if the cops and national guard weren't there firing rubber bullets and tear gas would it just be a peaceful protest?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,795 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Why is there criticism of Trump sending in the national guards. Like everyone else I'm no fan of the man but if ICE are rounding up illegal immigrants and deporting them and people of the same nationality are rioting and looting etc what is Trump meant to do. Stand by and watch?

Can you find us a news report from a reasonably independent source that shows rioting and looting?

Yes, leave it to the states. Wait for the Governor to request the national guard, that's what the law states. This is why he's being sued by the governor of California.

Uhh, how do you determine that the same nationality are being detained illegally are the ones protesting? Like, really? Do they wear signs or barcodes or something.

Plus, small nit, but this the national guard, not guards like they have here - unarmed. Nope, these are guys with serious weaponry, but not a lot of training, and tend to be selected for brutality. You have seen the photos, right?

Buts it's OK. You see, he hasn't actually done it or broken any law so simply saying he would like a political rival to be arrested for no reason other than he doesn't like him is fine.

    1) Like everyone else I'm no fan of the man but

    Doubt

    2) "if ICE are rounding up illegal immigrants and deporting them and people of the same nationality are rioting"

The next part of your sentence is based on that being true. Where are you sources for this hypothetical?

    3) what is Trump meant to do. Stand by and watch?

Why must Trump do anything? This is a State problem which the governor has to deal with. The governor can ask for help, but he specifically didn't. Trump's intervention is making things worse.

While you're batting for Trump, can I ask...

    1) when there were people attacking the Capitol and the police, why didn't Trump send in the National Guard? Remember when he said it was Pelosi's job... And this proves that to be a lie.

    2) are you okay with Trump calling for the Governor's arrest?

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Feels like testing the waters in terms of deploying the National Guard ad hoc. If there is no repercussions like getting sued by California then Trump would effectively have a militia to use with no kick back for literally anything he deems a threat. If only there were any examples from HiSStory for that tact.

Question was reliable, not 'online.' It'll be online if it exists (so far doesn't seem to. Even the GOP are posting 10 year old images)

Started off as a peaceful protest until the authorities went batshit. Mayhem breeds criminality.

I'd put the chaos entirely on trump and the heavy handed response.

Amazon have problems recruiting in some localities because they've gone through so many staff that anyone who would work for them for those low low wages already has and won't be going back.

Musk is having similar problems with specialised engineers.

I bet the narcissist thinks his moniker for Newsome is hilarious, and his entourage lap it up.

So effed up he can call a public representative 'scum' and not be called out for it.

Some looting was reported, but looking at the streets today there is debris - mostly rubber bullets and canisters - there was not really the level of damage to the area that would justify Trump making a decision, over the heads of the local state authorities, to send in the National Guard. Figures of between 300 and 800 protesters were reported, even at the high end not enough to warrent the heavy response.

I did see video of 3 mounted police and several on foot beating up an individual who was lying in the road, he tried to get up and was knocked down again, though no-one seemed to be trying to arrest him. Two journalists were hit by rubber bullets.

Trump is sitting 3000 miles away stirring up hate and fomenting violence, just to distract from his own activities and to keep up his personal spite attacks on Newsome and others. Previous presidents successfully removed illegal immigrants from the country with no trouble or fuss, Trump as usual is ego-tripping and making a mess of it.

In case one is unfamiliar with the rules of deploying the national guard, here's a helpful reminder from 2020:

California AG announces lawsuit challenging the mobilisation of the National Guard. How long before TACO?

How can any self respecting 'man' of service not only take this guy seriously, but publicly defend him and his bullshit?

The guy is spending at least 50 million dollars on a military parade outside his home, while slashing the meagre benefits of disabled war veterans.

These people are insurrectionists, but the January 6th group…nope.

To get a pardon you have to accept the guilty plea. So can't sue on those grounds.

Then again if the government capitulate then the Proud Boys will have a pile of cash to prepare for the next time Trump needs them.

And it provides another useful distraction.

Of course you can't manufacture bananas.

    Well not anymore.

We used to make them here. But then it went all the way to the High Court because Fyffes were claiming manufacturing relief under section 443(21) TCA 1997 for ripening them. A nice tax dodge while it lasted.

Trump has apparently mobilised 500 marines into LA. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cvg7vxx888kt

Its at timestamp 21.10 down the page.

The administration trying to normalize having the National Guard and US Marines policing cities. He'll probably deploy them on college campuses next if there's any anti-war protests or god forbid an anti-Trump protest.

You think the US, arguably the Worlds greatest superpower is a third world country ?

I seem to recall saying that Ireland was a third world country in relation to the US infrastructure wise and was jumped on.

    Odd.

I'm delighted Trump is sending in troops to do what needs to be done, the Democrats have left cities burn all over the US for years.

In fact they have aided and abetted it.

California is willfully ignoring immigration laws that govern the entire land.

    Enough is enough.

There's something much faster than joining the EU and possibly harder to explain to The Donald.

CBC have been an associate member of the EBU since 1950 and have participated in the Eurovision Young Dancers contest in the past. It's the Australia route. ( Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that is. )

Be careful, your fascism is showing.

If you are happy that authoritarian means are used to bypass the rule of law then that says loads about you
