Self monitored alarm with no sub fees

Hi all

Hopefully this topic hasn’t been asked too much before.

Question, I am looking at getting a wired alarm installed ( house is prewired) and get a it self-monitored with the app turn on / off alarm etc. I just download the app and no monthly / annual subscription fees etc. like you cctv apps

• 4 Wired PIR (prewired)
• 1 Battery PIR
• 9 door/ window contacts ( prewired)
• 1 additional Spare panel upstairs (prewired)

Can anyone recommend any companies that do this ? ( Dublin based)

Also, what are the self-monitoring apps you would recommend

You could use the UTC panel but its not cheap as it comes in a kit form for what you are looking for.

Use the Wi-Fi in your home or a direct cable to the panel from the router for free access to the panel.

Hi, in a similar situation myself.. House is pre wired and don't want to get locked in with HKC - did you get sorted in the end?

Best Security did a full upgrade on our alarm recently. Service was excellent.

They use the HKC panel, so there is a modest annual fee to HKC and small annual fee for servicing (replacing batteries).
Their online reviews are exceptionally good, and reflect my experience

Was this for a self-monitored option? Looking for something similar myself at the mo and am wary of the hard sell of some the companies that tie you in to a monitored system for 12 months with an expensive buyout option at the end.

And yes, I didn't like the hard-sell of low monthly fees that add up in the end.

yes, I ended up with a HKC system, new modern access panel. App is very good, straight forward to use. Annual sub is around €80 ish a year. It is not that bad when you think of what you get .

It has its own sim so any power cuts etc. it can still text you when alarm goes of. I forgot how much I paid ( wife ended up getting it done)

Long story short, ore than happy with HKC and would recommend their self monitored system.

No monitoring fee. There is a very modest annual fee for the app and an annual service fee.

Thanks for reply. So the annual fee isn't a monitoring fee? I assumed any fee with an alarm system was for monitoring…? So with this setup if there is a break-in, you'd be alerted via the app/automated text? There isn't a call from a monitoring company?

Okay, thanks for info. I'm pretty sure the guy we had around pricing for a wired Hkc system was saying that the system would include monitoring for that fee (about 80 euro per year).
