When is it time to give up on a Car

My Aunt has a golf its got just over 200k on the clock & i think its a 2016

Shes keeps having similar problems, mainly oil leaks, she gets it fixed then another leak appears a few month's later from a different part of the engine, they have been small leaks each time like seals & what not but when is it time to move on,

She had another small one this week from somewhere under the engine, , even if its there for 4 hours you can't see it,its only noticeable when the car is parked up over night,it isn't registering on the dip stick 4 days later,is it time to just move on or would it be worth getting fixed again

I guess her issues is she doesn't have money for a new car, kind of a nasty cycle,

To me I would be looking at a different mecahnic if leaks still keep occuring.

If she doesn't have the money to change the options are limited.

Maybe find a good independent mechanic and get the leaks fixed.

If the car is otherwise ok that should buy 2-3 years so she can start saving for a replacement.

I don't tjink its his fualt, the leaks seem to be in different places,

How bad are the leaks? If it's quite small, as annoying as it is, the cost of topping up the oil, would be €20 per month at most, unless it's a drastic leak

The fact you said it's not registering on the dipstick suggests it's a minimal small drip as opposed to a leak

Ye there very small but if left unfixed will grow id imagine,

Also when it rains even a tiny amount of oil ruins the drive way or road if parked outside

That suggests it's bigger than I thought. One of my.mine has a very slow drip.leak the last 15 years. Never fixed it. Never been an issue 😅
