When I joined Boards first the Nocturnal forum was buzzing.. I never posted in it because it seemed to have an almost cult-like following with in-jokes and innuendos and I knew I’d be like a fish out of water. Loved lurking in it though, there were some mad characters and hilarious exchanges. It’s gone quiet now, they must have all grown up and had kids and gone to bed at a normal hour 😄.

41, joined 2002 (so it says), so here a while alright :o Not much posting these days mind. Survived a good few set backs over the years - from losing usercp, after hours- well don’t know what happened it, the search never working (to working, to not, to..), losing the :pac: smiley, banning the use of yore ma (for shame).. The move to vanilla nearly did it in for me once and for all, but have slowly adapted to it

I wish there was a similar feature on boards.

    :P

    55 / m / Birmingham ….. anyone remember asl?

Joined in 2006 and Boards was THE place to go for craic, questions posted & answers solved, and the morbid fascination of watching a Motors thread descend from 'i saw a nice car today' to mayhem, insults and comparison of the other side to the nazis … I still like to see the huge difference in tone from the 1st page to the last of any long running thread

Im not as active as I once was, but still love it here. Some friends I made here in the Kerry forum that I used to PM have since left (RIP). So, yeah, I guess we are all getting older …….

I was still (barely) in my 20s when I registered here and will be 52 in a few months. My life has changed radically since then.

For many years Boards was pretty much the only forum I visited and was my go to place for information about anything and everything. I mostly post on Reddit now but still lurk here. Really miss old style forums and the long and complex threads that could go on for years.

l'm still hoping to finally make it to 2000 posts someday. 😃

Oh my, 19 years since I joined. I used to be more active, but now I dip in when I want to find a particular topic being discussed. And I’ve come along to After Hours to see what the banter is this evening. It’s pretty quiet in here these days I guess.

I never heard of the App before today, and I’m not familiar with this ‘new’ layout 🤔

I’m glad Boards is still around :)

And to answer the OP - I’m under 40 😁

Who cares what age it is? It's meant to be about meaningful interactions...or no?

Time to put childish things aside.

I've been visiting boards.ie in many various guises for the last twenty three years . . . Which is strange as I identify as a twenty one year old shapeshifter.

What happens if your over 80 but you think you are 30.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

We'll worry about that in twenty years if we are still around 🤞.

Hoi, while we Corkonians realise that not everyone can be so blessed to be from the southern capital, or even Ithe rebel county, nonetheless we do try to put up with the great unwashed on here, in order to promote diversity & tolerance.

Did you know that In Cork, we thank God for our outstanding humility every single day!?

P.s. and God is obviously most likely to be from Cork also btw… ;)

But shur most people would guess that anyways, wouldn't they !?...

I'm 45 but indentify as a 35 year old. Does that count?

Or over 60 and still feel like a 20 year old ?!

    Does that count ?

I'm in my 30's, was familiar with boards as a teenager 20 years ago and like most my age I drifted to other places once the social media age hit.

But in recent years a lot of the internet has turned to absolute shite so I'm come back here more and more. Twitter is full of bots, comment sections on news sites like the Journal are increasingly closed or filled with Americans & Brits spamming anti-immigration sentiment everywhere, Reddit is fine but a lot meme-ier in the discussion type. Would definitely be a shame if Boards went under, there isn't much else like it for Irish discussions.

I am 66 and have been here for yonks. Prefer Backroads.ie though as its all about cars / motorbikes for me and the motoring forum here is a bit weak and generally not very responsive.

I'm 41. I had an account that I closed two years ago from 2006. The lure of boards dragged me back even though I said I was finished with this place. It would be a massive shame if the site went down. Could they get help from the government like a grant or what not if they haven't the money to keep the site running. I had a paid subscription back in the day on here. There was a few benefits you got by doing so.

Imagine reading, writing and putting thought into something…. not something the under 40s are known for.

    I'm certainly over 40.

I might in fact be one of the oldest, is there a prize by any chance?

Think there are a few 80 year olds around so you'll have to wait a while 😊

Im in my 30s. Been here since I was 16.

Despite all the problems boards has i'd still take it over reddit any day. Can't stand how redditors, especially irish subreddits are.

Its so holier than thou, and the moderation is horrendous.
