What the best way to go about it,

We want a new car to fit 3 kids seats ,Am i best just rocking up and seeing what places will give me for my own car & seeing what they have to offer, Or finding a car online & then ringing & asking them what they are willing to give me for mine,

What is the best way to go about it,

Don't want the hassle of privately selling it,

Between your current car, what you're looking to trade up to,going in as a cash buyer vs looking for a trade in you're looking at a difference of thousands.

Iv a 15 Skoda Octavia estate about 200k on it,

I simply need more room with 3 kids , so looking to get a 7 seater type,

I plan to trade it in a put a few grand towards a new one, not looking for anything amazing just need the extra seat right now,

I'd prefer to just get rid of my old car & get a new one all inthe same place makes life easier,

In that case, find a car you like. Go to view it and get a trade in price for your current car. Or if you want to do it from home most dealers will send you a walk around video of the car and evaluate your car if you send them some photos and the details like mileage etc.

gee , thats not much of an upgrade - maybe one of the hybrid jap import mpvs ?

others might be able to offer insights into them , just think it be good way to get large vehicle with low enough kms

if you do big kms - hybrid might not be best option

i not familiar with jap import MPVS - butif you dont do big kms - a nissan serena hybrid might be an option

A lot of the petrol or hybrid automatic MPV’s are from Japan. Lots of Tourans/Sharans etc

Honda Freed and Toyota Estima are worth a look at too.

I think a Toyota Sienta is the right car for you. It's a 7 seater jap import and extremely reliable.

OP's preference is to fit 2 baby seats and a booster across the middle more so than needing a 7 seater, to my understanding. A lot of those suggestions won't work.

Similar cars to yours being sold for 10 to 14k by dealers. You might get 7/8k depending so with 5 on top you're looking at 12/13. You could definitely pick up a 2012+ Smax, galaxy, grand scenic, grand Picasso, sharan or Alhambra which are the best models of the top of my head for 3 across the middle relatively comfortable

depends on if his driving suits a petrol / hybrid - a low mileage jap import would seem a safer bet than a diesel mpv that might be up on kms

OP, In your situation I'd have something like this. Nice spec, comfortable, automatic, pan roof, window shades for the kids,3 full isofix seats, reasonable reliability , good economy and shouldn't cost too much to change. Massive boot with the advantage of 2 extra seats in the back if you need (boot is small with 7 seats)

2015 or newer 7 seaters in dublin 12.5 to 15k from dealers - tweak this search to suit your needs. some 7 seaters won't have the 3 seats as mentioned, some will claim 3 seats like the zafira tourer or x-trail but they aren't 3 independent full size seats despite being such large vehicles overall.

Can get one for half the price and keep what you have.

Regardless, I'd recommend the Renault/Citroën MPVs with the three individual seats.

Regarding selling to garage, you mention you don't want the hassle but losing out on potentially thousands of euro for the sake of a couple hours of "work" it makes a lot of sense to sell privately and end up in a nicer car.

More than likely will be as the majority of trade in deals are just moving around the numbers to make it seem like you're getting more for you car.

When shopping for last car I got offered trade ins of 7-9k across 5 garages for a Merc C class that I sold within 2 weeks for 11.750.

An Octavia is an in demand car and should sell quickly.

Hi there

That car will sell fairly easy privately as long as priced realistically. Looking online it seems that

type of car has an asking price in dealers of circa 10k. I'm guessing on a tradein you'll be offered no more

than 7k so if you sell privately around 8k-9k you're quids in.

Also Dacia Jogger is currently on 0% finance and the mid spec retails around 28k. This may

actually work out cheaper in the long run vs buying another 3- 5 year old 7 seater.

I think there's no value in second hand at moment given you may have no decent warranty

down the line and many seven seaters are nearly the price of the Dacia even if they are

5 years old.

The type of seats has in impact. Dacia has bench seats which should fit three child seats. I previously had Verso which

I don't think was any bigger. Only way to be sure is to bring the three seats you have in mind and try them.

I would also note that dacia is bigger across back three than kodiaq which is a seven seater because of the moulding

on the Kodiaqs seats ie 2 big seats and a bump seat in middle.
