Mazda 3 diesel problems

Anyone any experience with the Mazda 3 2.2 skyactiv problems.

Last year i bought a 2014 Mazda 3 and just recently got an engine malfunction light followed by a low oil pressure light.

Last week I brought it to my local mechanic, he did a full service and replaced the oil pump with a second hand one for €90 and light cleared until today on its first long motorway journey, both lights came back on.

Thankfully i was close to home so parked up, dipped oil and level just above minimum. Rang mechanic and he’s taking it back in tomorrow morning.

Basically looking to know if anyone has any experience with this? Could it just be bad luck and replace oil pump again? Do they burn through oil that easy if something is wrong as oil level low 1 week after service.

If i have to bring it to Mazda and pay a fortune for a new oil pump i will but is it likely to happen again due to the issues with this car?

    Thanks

The only responses you're going to get are about the horrible reputation of the skyactiv diesel engines.

They're heaps of sh1t you're better off getting rid while it's still running and buying a different car.

Numerous threads over the years. That engine is very unreliable and there's no definite fix for it. Get rid of the car as quick as you can, for anything anyone will give you for it.

I've had a 2014 Mazda 3 skyactiv Diesel 2.2 new since then, dident really have many issues although a few years ago I used to get some terrible, what can only be described as, jolts as I was travelling. Out of the blue. I was quite worried. The ignition light would come on. It was almost back firing. It had to go in for a recall for something else but I recon they tweaked a few other things too. I've rarely brought it to a Mazda garage as they charge a bloody goldmine to do anything. Usual rip off if you ask me. I change the oil myself and the filters.

The acceleration on it used to be great especially at 3500rpm and higher, no its very sluggish and not too great. Probably needs to go to Mazda. I think the quality despite it being Japanese is the worst I've seen TBH. Ive had to change both bearings in the front wheels, SPRINGS have gone and the corrosion is quite bad given its only 10 years old, and MAZDA!!

I'm looking to get rid of it. Its not that good on diesel either to be honest. I wouldn't go near another.

    Thanks all for the replies.

I had read all the bad things i guess i was just hoping for some positives or there was any way of avoiding trouble.

Might just have to cut my losses as i have 4 years left on car loan to pay off.

Where are you based that might help with more advice, imo best one of the Mazda specialist would be Kennedy's Portlaw just look on his YouTube channel

If you want a proper diagnostic and repair I would be contacting him and having him carry out any repair as he knows these engines inside out.

Thanks for that, they definitely look like they know what they’re doing so I’ve bookmarked them just in case i don’t get sorted by my own local mechanic. I’m based in Kilcoole.

I can second Kennedys of portlaw. A really sound fella and will solve your issues without doubt.
