Stardust 3 part RTE Documentary on the 1981 Tragedy.

I must say I thought the first part was very well done. It even featured The Taoiseach of the time Charlie Haughy and Charlie Bird the RTE reporter who was there at the time but recently died.

This first episode starts before the night and leads up to it.

This is a Tragedy that did not have to happen and never should have happened but unfortuntely it did and some of the accounts here are harrowing to hear.

It took the survivors and their familys 43 years to get the correct verdict on what happened that night and closure so I think it is very important that we remember them.

Part 2 is on tonight and part 3 tomorrow night.

Personally I’m fed up to the back teeth of hearing about Stardust, In particular the week on week coverage the past year or so. Time to move on.

Odd that RTE waited until after the Inquests to televise this series.

Where was the national broadcaster before now ?.

Interesting to see if Butterly's connection to Fianna Fail fundraising in the then Taoiseach's constituency is examined.

RTE did a drama about Stardust back.in 2006. It was fairly good from what I remember.

It would have moved on 40 years ago if an honest enquiry was given.

Guaranteed if it happened in D4 heads would have rolled there and then!

Personally I think the money awarded originally should be clawed back with interest. While it won't bring loved ones back, the person responsible doesn't get to benefit from (though they have for 40 years)

I’ve only seen the first part. I was 18 at the time but hadn’t ever heard of the Stsrdust until the fire. I thought those featured in the first part were nice dignified people who should never hsve had to wait 43 years for justice. I knew one of those interviewed- she was a parish secretary locally. Lovely lady.
