A few changes to the track

Well that should make them corners more fun anyway.

This will also be Hulkenbergs first F1 race at Imola

A bit of a different sound to Sky Sports this weekend.

It will make the race weekend all the more enjoyable with Croft not around. Looking forward to Harry’s commentary, always has bags of enthusiasm from the clips I’ve heard.

He's the lead every weekend on BBC Radio (no word yet on who's standing in for him there.) I sync up every weekend. Nice simple say what you see commentary.

Nice! A bit more challenging with the gravel traps. Turn 15 was where Leclerc went off a few years back trying to chase Perez for 3rd spot I think it was?

I heard that yesterday too. Crazy when you think about how long he's been around.

Would be gas if it was this track that got him his first podium.

Vettel will be driving Senna's '93 McLaren tomorrow to mark 30 years since that awful weekend. Also talk of him having a meeting with Merc? Would be cool to have him back but surely it's a long shot with Sainz available? Or does Toto only want someone for 1 year before young Kimi is ready?

Might not necessarily be about driving. Mercedes have lost two other folks to Ferrari including Jerome D'Ambrosio, an ex Formula E racer who was in charge of their young driver programme. Perhaps Vettel is thinking of taking up that role.

The only reason I could see Seb back in F1 with Merc is if it's a 1 year deal because they don't want to rush Kimi Antonelli and can't get someone like Sainz in. I'd be surprised though if he ever comes back.

Also, I'm disappointed this thread doesn't have the full name of the Grand Prix in it: FORMULA 1 MSC CRUISES GRAN PREMIO DEL MADE IN ITALY E DELL'EMILIA-ROMAGNA 2024 (aka the San Marino Grand Prix)

Tried that with the Spanish GP last year, didn't last a day before a moderator edited it.

Oliver Bearman is driving for Haas this weekend!!!!!

In free practice 1 😝 Standing in for K-Mag because Hulk needs the track familiarisation.

so qualifying starts at 3pm our time on Saturday ? It’s doable with things I need to do on Saturday. Why do people want to do things during the F1 season ?

Nice idea from Seb organising a track run for Senna and Ratzenberger

Anybody watching the practice sessions today? The Ferrari upgrades look to be going well and the opposite for Red Bull - Max struggling with the balance of the car. McLaren look fast too and Merc not too bad either - although Hamilton not paying attention to faster cars around him.
Could be a very close race this unless Red Bull sort out their issues. Great track this, speed of the cars through some of the corners is unreal.

Ferrari vs McLaren? What year is this, 1999?

I suspect the simulators will be on overdrive tonight in the RB factory.

Yeah I posted in the general F1 thread because I have the big dumb, but Max not happy at all plus a trip into the gravel. If they can't sort the car out tomorrow the race might actually be interesting!

Tbf Max wasn’t alone going through the gravel, all of the top teams did the same, good to see them pushing. The added gravel sections makes it more interesting too. Yuki was flying today, 7 to 8 tenths up the road from Danny.

Few things, Red Bull frustrated, but it's only Friday. Lando should have finished out that lap. According to Andrew Benson on 5 Live long run corner, Tsnuodas race pace running wasn't anything to write about so the lap was a sponsor glory run. Ben Edwards is the substitute on BBC Radio 5 Live so nice to hear him again.

In F3 Alex Dunne has qualified right in the fun zone in P5. Not sure if there's some sort of reverse grid for the sprint tomorrow morning but tune in 9am Irish time to find out. Feature race is at 7:30 Sunday morning.

Alex has been disqualified for a technical breach to do with the front anti roll bar

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Shame, but it's not Alex's fault and McLaren know that.

Alonso into the barriers at the last corner. Red flag.

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,949 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

nice to see its not a rb run away show, looks like they are sandbagging though, so it ll be closer for quali

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,191 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Perez into the barrier and another red flag. That’ll be the end of the session. McLaren are very fast. To me the pecking order for quali looks like McLaren, Ferrari then Red Bull.

Ok session has gone green with 2 mins left.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,191 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Jesus, lucky there wasn’t a hefty crash on that last lap!

Id say 75% chance of verstappen pole, rather than the usual 90%
