Hey! I've got a 1 Gang extension lead (13A), but it is 10m long. Is it safe to cut it and rewire on of the ends to a smaller length (2 meters in this case)?

Yes, if you disconnect the power lead from the wall socket first.

Welll you coukd take of the plug cut it back the length you want and put the plug back on. That woukd be the simplest, cheapest and easiest way to do it or you could cut of the other end and then need to get maybe a socket box and a socket to go on that end but it would cost more and be more hassle. Also these would not be water proof so not for use outside on wet days unless you got a water proof socket.

Just do the plug it's the easiest and simplest solution.

    Really up to you.

    Peace and long life.

    Or buy a shorter one?

Or just coil it back to the length you need and tape it up nice and neat.

Unless it has absolutely no chance of even being used, it's a shame to cut the 10m flex back to just 2m.

what appliances are connected to this lead

It is unsafe to leave the lead coiled up if the appliances use a lot of power (washing machine/dryer etc)

a 10mts lead should only be used as a temporary measure

it might be better to get an additional socket wired up permanently
