    Hi,

I planted 5 young leafless kanzan trees on 5thMarch .My land is up on the mountains 650m height . I drive up there to water them. They seemed to have made some progress. Their buds got a bit longer but they won't open. I don't know if they are leaves or flowers. Now it has been almost two months but the buds remain closed. I did ask a specialist and he advised me to prune them 50cm from the top. I did that but two of them have lost their side branches with the branches on due to the pruning and I really wonder whether I have done well. When the weather is a bit warm (17C) ,and the sun of course gives me a tan when I just stand in my field, I water them. Otherwise, it is the rain that keeps them watered. There are a lot of cherry trees around which flowered in April but not my trees. Their trunk is grey and I am sure there is no disease on them. I also planted a ginkgo (here in Greece people have no idea what a ginkgo is) which made flowers like mad. I planted all the 5 kanzan and the ginkgo the same day. In fact an expert in planting trees did it for me.
