Looking at getting Ferguson combo box which says that it needs a HDD with it's own power. Where can you get these as all I see are usb powered discs?

    Thanks

you probably need a caddy like this UGREEN Hard Drive Enclosure, USB 3.0 to SATA HDD Caddy for 2.5 3.5

at amazon but ferguson is a bit old now, have you considered a zgemma h7s?

If you stick to SDD then usually the USB plug will be enough to run it without a power supply. 1TB SSD are quite reasonable now.

If you are in the market for a combo box , there are many options on the market that are much better for the price than ferguson , most with options for storage that are better than hanging a powered portable drive off of it.

The latest Octagon S8008 for example , takes an M.2 Nvme stick.

Zgemma H7s takes an SSD slotted in the rear

Any box specifying a powered USB drive for storage must be running on a very old type of USB port. Even USB 2 could supply 5 unit loads at minimum which is 500ma , more than enough for most USB drives. If the ferguson is not specced to handle that basic requirement then dont buy it , its trash.

Ferguson combos have another issue , only now/next for satellite channels , no 7 day EPG , you only get 7 day epg on saorview channels. You can get boxes that are much better for the money.
