3 phase in shed cost (if possible at all)

hi,

I wanted to build a shed in back yard (rural area) and put 3 phase power into the shed but when i rang my electrician he said theres no chance the ESB will let me do this, is that definitely the case? He’s dead sound and always on the ball but I was just surprised at his answer.

I expected it to be very expensive but didn’t expect it to be impossible.

Can anyone advise or confirm please?

Is there any 3 phase supplies running near you? Saw a guy on tiktok doing the same for an engineering business, 3ph was approx 1 mile away and it cost around 40k, Went with a 3ph genny instead

thanks Joe! It’s a good question, i’m not actually sure. There’s a primary school and a farm within a few hundred yards so maybe one of those. Nothing else for miles though.

Unless it's a relatively built up area, It's unlikely. You'll know because you'll see 3 wires running around the yard rather than 2, I think a three phase generator would be the way to go, Would cost a fraction of the connection fee, and cost to run it would be a lot cheaper than the tarriff then.
