This is an extremely morbid question but, as an alternate history scenario, what would’ve been the ramifications if (as was very possible) the death toll was significantly higher? It was mentioned during the inquests that up to 700 people could’ve died if every single exit door was locked. If this was the case then it would have been by far the deadliest fire anywhere in Europe since WW2.

How would this impact Irish society, culture, politics and general outlook etc?
