Buying from Chinese companies

Has anyone bought from Chinese companies like aliexpress, say a electric bike or scooter value around 600 euro plus to be delivered to Ireland, Cork and apart from long wait had any problems like, must it go through customs procedure, any advice would be grateful I was even looking at a motorised wheel barrow. Thanks all
