Are there any reputable dealers in Dublin?

Hi, I'm a first time buyer. I've been looking on Carzone, I see a car that looks promising, I check the name of the dealer, I Google their name and come to boards posts full of people complaining.

Is every dealership like this? Is choosing one a total lottery?

Best to focus on car you want 1st and then check with boards about dealer who has it . Think these days most dealers are decent enough

If you know nothing about cars I would suggest you find a car on Donedeal and get a car inspection company to inspect it for you. If they say its a good car then you can leave a deposit and travel to Dublin to collect it

Don't all cars have alarms? Be careful with jap imports. Some insurance companies won't insure them

If you are talking about EASYAUTOS, yes, they are great. I bought a car for my wife car years ago and the guy is super nice. When she tried to upgrade her car, the tradein valuation was great - something very similar that we paid… Very helpful lad and 0% cowboy. The only issue is JAP imports are targeted by thieves. But I think this is the way to go - just make sure the car has ALARM and IMMOBILISER.

From my experience it's very hard to insure Honda Fit. It's a shame because the car is extremely reliable, cheap to run and to service… Even with alarm and insurance, I rang all bigger companies (axa, allianz, 123, liberty, aviva) and also tried with some brokers. The quote was almost 3 grand for a Fit, any fit as I tried more than one… It was with a broker, because the bigger companies did offer anything… It was a little bit over 3 years ago, I hope it changed… No issues to insure Vitz.
