Would this service interval be a concern

hi would buying a 191 BMW 520d be a concern with a service done at 42000 km and then next service done at 104000 km when the main bmw selling the car. That’s 62000km between oil changes…
would this be a concern? Or would it be best to stay well clear of purchasing this car from main bmw dealer

    Thanks

That's not great at all and would pretty much disregard the car due to this as the engines tend to be sensitive to infrequent oil changes and this is over 4x the recommended 15k km interval.

Seems really strange to not do it with a relatively new car so double check if there's any invoices incase the idrive wasn't updated at the time.

yea can’t understand how someone would buy such an expensive car and not change its oil in two years of ownership and clocking up 62,000 KM. I was always under the impression that a car should be serviced at 15,000 km but BMW do recommend services every two years or 25,000 km whichever comes first 🤷‍♂️

I personally wouldn't touch a car that somebody drove for 62k without an oil change. Engines need clean oil. I wouldn't be a fan of the 30k BMW service interval either. 10-15k is a good interval for an oil/filter service. That being said, they could have had the oil changed away from the dealers and the service record was never updated.

yes I think you’re right and also that could be the case about the oil changes away from the main dealer thus not being able to update the idrive but I suppose that’s no good too a potential buyer who knows to check out these things before buying.

Is there really 62k km between services or is it possible that the car was serviced outside the BMW dealer network in between those intervals? If it had been service elsewhere then I'd expect to see invoices and receipts for it.

Not having them or the car didn't get serviced in 62k km means that what else did the previous owner skimp on in maintenance. Given there are hundreds of these cars for sale I'd move on if the answers to the above are not simple.

would suggest to me it is clocked and hiding the service history but that’s just me

would run a mile for what would be an expensive car
