Picking the right car battery

    hi folks,

Need a new battery for a 2.2L diesel Honda Civic. 2010, not a start stop.

    Edit:

Okay had a question and managed to answer that. The A08 is start stop battery, I was confused why that was more expensive than 008 which has higher power.

Just wondering then which battery is better for 2.2L diesel civic an S4 or S5? I’m thinking of just grabbing the S5 as long as it won’t cause any problems since it’s barely €30 more expensive than S4 but if it’s pointless to spend the extra I won’t!

    Where are you buying from?

Wicked amount of batteries in a range are the same just with different labels, one shop's Eco range could be another shop's Premium range.

I would expect the expensive one to last longer. Only worthwhile if you are planning to hang on to the car for a few years.

  • Whoever has the best price! Just using micks garage to get an idea of the cost.

As for A08 vs 008, I figured that out, it’s just start stop (A08) and regular (008). Question now is mainly if I should go for S4 or the higher capacity S5 for the extra money or if it will cause problems. 🤣

Might sound stupid but I am unsure if a battery that’s too strong would cause harm to the car I’ve had enough hassle with it already I don’t want to blow something up. 🤣

If money isn't the issue then get the higher capacity. Don't think the strength of the battery has much to do with it, rather how long it will last. Always bought good batteries any time I've had to replace one in a car and been glad of it everytime, leaving lights on and other silliness.

I'm not sure but is the S4 & S5 not different dimensions? Like an 063 and an 096/067 battery. I'd throw a tape on the original battery first
