Just wondering did you have your interview yet?

Would really appreciate any info, tips?

    Hi,

    Had my TUSLA interview on Monday last, found out I passed two days later, some of the topics I was asked included;

What do you know about TUSLA?

How do you handle conflict with a colleague?

    Teamwork

How do you manage your day to day workload?

There are two useful threads on here that also discuss interview topics,

What you know about Tusla (discuss services they provide, when it was founded)

Legislation thats important for the role (discuss data protection laws in thw workplace, Children First legislation)

What your competencies are (computer skills, customer service skills, people skills, organisational skills)

Discuss a time at work when you had to deal with a challenging or difficult situation. How did you handle it?

Keep in mind the STAR system when answering: the situation you were in, the task you were performing, the action taken and the result you achieved. The example can be from anything. Previous job, college project

When is your interview? 😊 Did you apply for the Midlands campaign by any chance?

Cool, best of luck with it all, let me know how you get on.

My biggest concern now is employer references, there is one employment I held about three years ago, which I am sure I wont get a good reference from ( a temporary contract of a few weeks) but will be able get satisfactory references for all other employments, just worried now that one bad reference will harm my chances with this role. It wasnt a hse job but a civil service role.

    Have you any advice?

    Thank you. 😊

Thanks a mill, I will let you know how it goes!

Try not to worry I'm sure you will be fine😊 I think most employers just give a statement of employment detailing the dates you were employed and in which department.

Just there other day email came in the skills match test will be happening soon, even though when applied it had on application that this would be well after the interview. Has anyone done a skills match test? What is it ? How do I prepare for it ? Thanks.

    Have you heard anything since?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,270 ✭✭✭I am me123

No nothing since I found out I passed and got my panel number. I was placed 8. Did you get a panel number too?

Did you get your marking sheet attached with your interview result?

I wonder what the next step is?

Hey Did you have to give references yet? Or how did that part go? I have an interview next week,if successful I know I won't get a reference from my last employment and don't know how to phrase it or get around it when the reference part comes up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,270 ✭✭✭I am me123

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

I'm in a similar boat, there is one past employment I'm pretty sure I won't get a good reference from, but all other references won't be an issue. I'm worried that one poor reference will affect my chances at getting a job.

The info booklet mentioned something about " a comprehensive suite of references" so I'm not sure if by that that TUSLA will seek out references from every employment a candidate ever held. Realistically speaking, what if a past employer is not able to be contacted due to retiring, etc?

Cool, so will all interviews be finished by end of this week?

I got my interview result and panel number two days after doing the interview so hopefully you will have a decision fairly quickly.

Got my interview result & panel number in April last, so just waiting to hear some update now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭dells35

Yes they said there was 8 days in total ,and 3 days tgis week.im presuming cuz it was a bank holiday that interviews are going to be today tomarrow and Thursday and somebody else was telling me you get results 2 to 3 days after the interviews are finished. We're you happy with your placement on the panel do you think you will ne waiting long? My friend was number 13 and she waited 6 months for her number to come up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,270 ✭✭✭I am me123

Yes I was very happy with my panel number. 😁 I was so surprised to get the interview result so quickly - Had interview on a Monday and had result by Wednesday of the same week. ( That was in April this year).

Im number 8 in OOM so hopefully I won't be waiting long. Was your friend notified via email of a job offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭dells35

I'm actually not sure how she was notified to be honest.but she got offered temporary straight away ,then by the time her number came up for permanent she was just finishing the temporary one,so she was very lucky.thats great! Fair play!hope I will be happy with my number too 🙈 the not knowing is killing me
