These are the same settings as the NC6 process except they apply two stage settings for NC7.

To confirm you have the correct settings for NC6, you can go to the 'Advanced Settings' menu on the solis, password is probably the default 0010 and check that the Set Standard is set to 'EN50549IE'.

If you want to cover all your bases you can email solis at euservice@solisinverters.com to confirm the second stage settings and highlight the listed NC7 requirements.

Thank you so much! I was in the Advanced menu last night, but I couldn't quite find the settings I was looking for.

I'll definitely do both the menu check and email Solis for confirmation. That way, I can be sure I've got all my bases covered. Really appreciate the help!

Grid standard, it's the first one in the advanced menu

If your inverter is on a recent firmware version, there should be ESB-Micro and ESB-Mini there available in the list of grid standards.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your help so far. I changed the Grid standard on the inverter to ESB Mini, and the settings now seem aligned with the ESB form. However, I have one concern. Am I reading this correctly, or are the Under Frequency Settings on my inverter set up backwards?

    Here are my current settings:

    Over Voltage:

    OV-G-V1: 269.0V, OV-G-V1-T: 70.00s

    OV-G-V2: 281.0V, OV-G-V2-T: 0.70s

    Under Voltage:

    UN-G-V1: 191.0V, UN-G-V1-T: 3.00s

    UN-G-V2: 46.0V, UN-G-V2-T: 0.50s

    Over Frequency:

    OV-G-F1: 52.00Hz, OV-G-F1-T: 20.00s

    OV-G-F2: 52.50Hz, OV-G-F2-T: 0.50s

    Under Frequency:

    UN-G-F1: 47.50Hz, UN-G-F1-T: 20.00s

    UN-G-F2: 47.00Hz, UN-G-F2-T: 0.50s

    Startup Time (Startup-T): 300s
    Restore Time (Restore-T): 300s

I've attached the grid protection section of the NC7 Certificate below. Otherwise, I think everything is set correctly. Please let me know if I've missed anything or if you have any suggestions.

    Thanks!

Nice work. Don't worry about the order of the stages. Effectively the two conditions just mean:

The inverter should "ride through" the under frequency unless the frequency drops below 47 Hz for more than 0.5s or below 47.5 for 20s, in which case it can trip. They don't influence each other directly, so order is irrelevant.

Great. So I'll just put 'Y' beside it and submit?

This has been a long road. Looking forward to putting the final stamp on it.

You can assure ESBN that some randos on boards.ie have assured you that you can in fact place Y and submit ;)

    It's a heavy-going application route, congrats!

    😂

Thanks! I always trust randos online. Sure, what could go wrong?

    For those following this thread.

    NC7 application was approved.

"Based on our emails you are eligible to install the Total Installed Inverter Capacity of 12KVA, made up of 2 x 6KVA units, and an MEC of 12KVA."

A huge thanks to @TerraSolis for all his support on this one.

It took a lot of over and back but it's great to get it sorted.

16.34kWp system with optimisers on each panel and 20kwh of batteries. Happy days!!

Nice, especially on the MEC, what is your MIC?

my local transformer is marked with no available export capacity so whilst I would go NC7 it would have to be 16 in and 12 out, I know they wont allow it so no point, I'd end up with a NC7 with 12KVA (same as now) import and MEC restricted to 6, I mean what's the point

They did come back with 8 out initially and it was a hard slog to get them to move to 12. Ideally they would be able to confirm at an initial review before money is exchanged that the potential is there. There is a commerical review before they look for the 1000.

Is there any physical inspection of the equipment/wiring?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,497 ✭✭✭randombar

Not in my case, don't think they even inspected transformer or anything.

    hi

I recently applied for NC7. Applied for 10kva connection but got back 6kva offer today. Having read randombar and terrasolis above I am wondering if there is any point or option of going the same route as randombar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,497 ✭✭✭randombar

Go back and push and annoy, I got what I was looking for after just took a while and persistence (and terrasolis help :D)

I am over and back with ESB and getting similar responses to those you got. just wondering how far and how much detail you ended getting across to them.? did you produce your own calculations or just fight the standards they are trying to hold us to?

I pulled out a LOT of data with help from TerraSolis but they ignored a lot of it based on it being UK based. PM me your email there and I can forward the correspondence.

I think I left a PM but if not just let me know and I’ll try again!!

On our rural property that has oodles of different roof areas, I have the option of cheaply(?) reconnecting two chalets back onto their original own meter that was there before us. I could then feed in three MECs say 16.5 kW, but would have to pay 3 meter rents. I think our transformer on the pole outside feeds 6 or 7 houses afaik, how do I find out if that could that take the import or what? What's this recommended way to proceed with this enquiry, or would it be better to go for NC7?

TIA and if this question merits its own thread I am happy to repost.
BTW I recently installed 24 panels E/W running since 12th May

So what's actually involved with the NC7?

Pay the near €1000, get accepted (or not!), and they just change a number on a screen somewhere to say you now have extra capacity?
Or do you have to pay for works to be done?

In the following images, 1 and 2 are within 150m of my house. 3 is 220m away. If I'm reading it right, there's no available capacity in any of them? Just looking to upgrade my 5kW inverter to a 10kW version.

    Thanks folks.

Was the same in my Transformer, stated at full capacity and I have vague memory of someone on it being told no more power. Then a new house was built a year or so ago and they were hooked up to it……..

My NC6 was submitted May30th and have heard nothing back since, which is fair enough.

Can I apply for an NC7 before I get the NC6 confirmed? And does the NC7 fee only apply once you decide to go ahead with it? Or do you have to pay up front regardless?

    Thanks.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,944 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

    you pay regardless

Well you dont actually pay until step 2.

I think step 1 is an initial review etc. then they ask you for payment to move to the next step.

So they'll come out, have a nose around, and tell you if you will be able to get the upgrade?
