Missing lost password emails

In the case of two sites that I need to get access to (one is spotify), I'm not receiving the "lost password" email I need to reset the password. This is a Gmail account

I have checked spam, all other possible mail locations. I have typed the address instead of using autofill ( it seems relentlessly to remember a misspelled email account which has caught me out before), cleared cache and rebooted pc, all to no avail. Anybody else find this?

You're using the wrong email address and rather than give 'no such account' message, instead no email is sent.

This is (by far) the most likely explanation. I just tried to reset the password on Spotify using an email address that has never been used on it. I still get the message "We sent you an email. Follow the instructions to get back into your account". Obviously, no email arrives, since there is no account to reset the password for

Despite me pointing out the lengths I'd gone to to avoid entering the wrong email?

The answer was that Spotify had disabled the account, a very helpful chat sorted it out. When I entered the email address (the same one) the response came back as normal. So there.
