Fibreboard - Vodafone or Virgin?

I'm a Virgin cable customer (out of contract) - their engineers just did the fibre outside cabling today. Am I right in thinking that Virgin have a wholesale agreement with Vodafone so I would be able to choose between them for fibre? Vodafone are cheaper but I would rather use my own orbi mesh router and from what I understand this isn't possible with Vodafone? How about with Virgin fibre? Also do Vodafone block p2p?

No sure but I kind of doubt it. As I understand it, Virgin do not share their current cable network with anyone. As they upgrade that network to fibre I doubt they will change their policy of only using the network for their own services.

I am always using my own Mesh system, I just connect it to Vodafones/Eir or Virgins router and away it goes.

Personally, I think eir has the best internet service, I tried all of them and the ping/speed/reliability was the best with Eir so far. (Virgin was good, too, but that recently changed and I had a lot of downtime and slow speeds with them)

Sky made the same announcement some time ago but there wasn't really any movement in that regard.

From my personal experience Sky is still using OpenEir / SIRO connections even when there's a Virgin socket already there.

Somewhere I read that only "upgraded" Virgin Media premises be connected through this new agreement. Not really sure what this upgrade is but you mentioned they worked on something outside your home so who knows, contact Vodafone maybe they can connect you through Virgin cable.
