I just had a look at the EV6 and see that it appears a lot better thought out and designed compared to the ID cars which seems to have been rushed.

Seems like they depreciate very heavily, I see some on carzone for a lot less that the 53.8 K New price tag.

The Ioniq 5 appears to be much better designed too and holds it's value a tiny bit better.

I haven't ruled out keeping the id3 T5 yet but it's kind of scary reading the problems related to some modern ICE cars.

I might head to Hyundai and Kia at the weekend for a spin.

Lord almighty, no, not another ID Car, I couldn't do it. Perhaps if they bring back some sanity to cockpit design in the coming years.

Estate would be perfect, no crossover if possible, however, I'd consider a Ioniq 5.

Just looking up the seal now, I saw one not too long ago, not sure about that. They're too new at the moment and I'm looking 2nd hand now.

We have an I5 and an Id3 and while the Ioniq 5 wins in terms of comfort, space and is a great motorway cruiser, I actually prefer the ID3 on secondary roads and going into multistories as it is a more compact car and much easier to park.

The long wheel base on the I5 makes reverse parking a pain.

Agree on the ID range but don’t want to seem biased towards Tesla or the rest of the Asian brands.

Seal very good. It’s very similar to a Tesla but more buttons IMO but efficiency not as good based on real world driving.

I suppose you have to state your budget now as that will narrow it down.

Budget will be 30K or less. I know this will be a bit of a challenge.

The answer is definitely not obvious. We are much happier ID.3 owners but could really do with a bit more space. Don’t particularly want an suv. Not that keen on the Teslas either although it’s hard to argue that they aren’t a good package. Might try the byd as well.

If I was in the market today for a family EV it would be the Kia EV6.

Or an Audi etron, which I have. Id also recommend my cupra or a Skoda enyaq, so my opinion may not mean much to you

Hmm, just looking at BYD now, same issue for me, screen controls pretty much everything. Not for me but would you be worried about resale value ? that's pretty much unknown yet + I really do like having a dealer close by.

You can count out the vast majority of current generation cars so. First one I remember was the dual screen Audi A6 in 2018 going to nearly all controls on screen and its continued ever since.

Considering the litany of negative EV posts from the OP for what seems like weeks, why on earth would he consider buying another one.

Sell the EV, get something with "Highest Range Possible". Has to be a diesel.

You will be buying second had, so having a decent warranty should be important and you'll get that with Kia / Hyundai. I think you'll struggle to get a 3 year old car for €30k though unless it's a private sale. The eGMP platform is fantastic as you can precondition to DC chargers for fast charging. The 240v socket is really handy too when the power goes out. Hyundai nav system is not great, but I use Android Auto all the time. I think the EV 6 might be wireless AA whereas the Ioniq 5 is wired unless you use an adaptor to get wireless AA.

I drove the ev 6 "earth" today, which i'm almost certain is the 77 kwh .

it's a 2022 with 87,500 kms and they're looking for 35k, body work isn't fantastic, was just a car to the previous owner, scratches on it, swirl marks galore but in fairness black is very hard to keep but it looked dull.

Scratches around the door handles, lots.

Inside is a different story, it's a lot nicer with proper accessible buttons for heated seats and steering, as you can see from prawnsambo's pic above , while some are not physical buttons they do make a big difference having dedicated functions.

There's a good bit more room up front, it's wider and more room in the rear, but foot room under drivers seat is tight, you'd definitely want to raise the seat if an adult was in the rear.

Suspension is softer, better for broken town roads, on country country roads the id3 is better, feels tighter on the road, steering on the id3 is a lot better, the Ev 6 has no feel, feels unnatural and lifeless and doesn't help with the handling.

So from a driving experience the id3 is a lot better, that's my opinion of course.

Power wise there's not a lot between them, they won't win any races but adequate.

Not sure it would be worth 35K to be honest, it's something I'd have to think a lot about but the paintwork was definitely not great for a 2 year old car, I was quite surprised, are they all like that ? I mean the id3 hasn't seen the greatest love but there's a much better shine on it.

I don't think It's worth 54 K for one new, but perhaps the better quality interior adds to the cost.
