Amazon are going with their own OS soon and it probably will be locked down more ,no more sideloading

The existing firesticks will remain android based. It is only the future ones that will be proprietary OS

Wonder will the older model firesticks which you can sideload IPTV onto be harder get down the line. Chromecast and other boxes be still available

It will only be a matter of hours or days that the new software is broken like everything else that comes out.

If anything the new software when cracked will be more stable

53 euro on amazon

and Currys, would never buy from them again, had to bring them to the small claims court for a refund on a tv that arrived broken. Took over a year to get my money back.

I had my own issues with Currys and would also avoid where possible

Also, I would look elsewhere then a firestick if going to be watching 4K/HDR/Dolby vision at it will not play it right, no matter what app or setting you try

If you are using it for replacing an android box for “tv” etc then they are good, but step outside that and issues start to come up

I had a 4K then the last time they had them on offer I went 4K Max and now have to use my android tv to play 4K/HDR/Dolby vision

they have listed 4 Years of support . changing thousands of firesticks from android to new linux fork would be a massive undertaking leading to many crashing . i cant see that happening

Phone companies have done it before. The hardware is under amazons control, as long as the software is tested before release then it it shouldn't be a major issue.

We'll find out for sure soon enough anyway.
