HKC 1070 panel mains fault

This popped up today out of nowhere and not sure what it can be.

I assumed it is the power supply, checked the fuse, and voltage is 230v, alarm can arm/disarm so all looks good.

Not sure what else to look for, could a dead battery cause that? Any ideas?

It's the backup battery in the main panel.

Panel mains fault occurs if the electricity goes off in your house.

It will indicate this at the keypad and you put in your user code to acknowledge.

If the mains is back on and no fault light on you should be all good.

Actually I just removed the battery and tested the voltage, it's at 12.75v

But when I removed battery the siren started and the panel died so I think it's not getting any AC power so the power module must be busted.

Might pick up both tomorrow, battery is a few years old anyway.

Have you a spur on the alarm, check this fuse and the fuse in the panel to see if they are working first.

Failing this, then it would be the transformer.

So I tested with a multimeter on both sides of the transformer

And got 230v so I guess this means the power is going through the fuse and it doesn't look blown

What was the reading on the low voltage side of that transformer ?

Well the transformer had no red light on it so it's busted.

I swapped it out today and it came back to life, old battery died over night too so I also replaced the battery with a new 12v 7ah one

Is the battery usually being topped up via AC?

Well technically, the AC / mains power is reduced and then converted to DC and that is used to keep the battery topped up and indeed to power the system.
