Aer Lingus - Cancellation/ Fare change

Hi all,

I currently have a flight booked to Madrid under the ‘Save’ fare.

I won’t be able to travel and was thinking of changing the flights to another date and upgrade to Aerspace fare which provides more flexibility.

Given my travel plans may change, if I were to upgrade to Aerspace and subsequently had to cancel my trip for whatever reason, would I get a full refund (i.e, amount previously paid on Save fare + Aerspace upgrade) or just on the amount paid extra to upgrade from Save to Aerspace?

There is also a fee for any change, per leg which would not be refundable but, i'd expect you'd get full fare back for a future cancellation as your new ticket would be within the flex rules - apart from the change fee, could be a good way round cancellation conditions...

The above is incorrect, that would be a huge loophole as people would upgrade to AerSpace just to get a full refund.

You can request a full voucher refund or cash refund up to two hours before departure time. A refund administration fee may apply.

If the original fare type booked was non-refundable, and then subsequently changed, only the fare difference is eligible for a cash refund.

No change fee applies. Seat and baggage fees are refundable.
