Alternatives to concrete footpaths

What alternatives are there to concrete footpaths for a side passage? It’s a semi-d and the side passage will be about 1m wide with a block wall adjoining the neighbour.

Decorative chip with edging. Just make sure its 14mm or larger as you will be dragging it into your house. Make sure you put down a weed membrane to stop anything growing up through it
