Lamb Shanks

I fancied cooking some lamb shanks in the slow cooker but when I went to Dunnes (nearest supermarket to me) what they had was absolutely pitiful, hardly much meat and didn't resemble the lamb shanks in this video https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/slow-cooker-lamb-shanks. Any suggestions as to where I can get better shanks in Dublin please?

Keep an eye on O'Mahony Meats on Facebook, they put up their specials on Thursdays, and lamb shanks often pop up in the offers e.g.

Shanks are normally off the front leg. Those shanks in the video are off the hind leg of lamb and would, if available, be much more expensive.

Go to your local butcher, shanks slow cooker can’t go wrong.

Almost. I found them in a very nice butcher's but at €12 ea I'll have to wait a bit till I'm a bit flush, as it's a stretch to pay that much just for myself as nobody else here likes lamb. They looked lovely and I was going to buy two till I saw the price. Anybody got advice for timing them in the slow cooker?

@Jellybaby_1 that's crazy money! My butcher charges €6 for them.

I'm not sure on the slow cooker. I do them in the oven for 4 hours.

Got two for 9 in one butcher and 7 each in another (Galway so no good to you) so shop around. They are my fav cuts. Prefer them to the leg itself for some reason
