Outlook uses 53% of memory in Firefox

The single tab MS Outlook uses 53% of memory with Firefox of available 6Gb. With browser closed memory on Taks Manager reads 25%.

Cache cleared, tried disabling Firefox extentions; no change. W8.1 - i7.

Well, the tab is using (at most) 605MB, which is ~10% of your computer's total RAM.

But so what? Unused RAM is wasted RAM

68% is the total percentage of RAM being used by the OS and all applications combined. The single Firefox Outlook tab is using 605MB of RAM, which is ~10% of your total RAM.

Again though, why do you care? Empty RAM is useless RAM. The only time you should be concerned about the percentage of RAM used is if you are consistently above 90%, and the OS starts thrashing the disk, swapping data in and out of RAM at a rate that affects performance

Windows XP used to aggressively swap stuff out of memory to such an extent that if you had more than 1GB of memory it was nearly faster if you turned off the swap file.

Later versions of windows only swap out when they run out of RAM.
