VIES not recognizing tax number

    Hello

My accountant registered my company for Intra-EU VAT 3 days ago which I received a Certificate of Taxable Status from the collector general.

However none of the online systems such as VIES or https://www.iban.com/vat-checker are NOT validating the tax number.

I noticed the Tax number in the certificate has a 0 "zero" after the IE0 which is not part of the local tax number. It's 12 characters in total, but from what I read Irish intra EU tax numbers are either 10-11 digits. Is that right?

My accountant saying that systems are slow to pick up the changes, and I am unable to transact, but 2 days slow?

Is that common or a step is missed and I am waiting for nothing?

The below website is a bit more straight forward, just select Ireland from the dropdown and enter your domestic tax number and ignore any numbers you see with 0 at the start

    https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/#/vat-validation

If the EU VAT checker still isn't coming up as valid then there is no Intra-EU VAT registration, your accountant will need to chase with Revenue to see why it's been held up
