Looking at a site. Is it a big issue to try build a two-storey house next to a bungalow?

Could you see planning council being ok with it? there are no other houses across or either side of the site and bungalow.

    thanks

go the the relevant council's planning site, have a look at other recent planning applications in the area and see what the planner's report says.

A dormer style might be best advised. But in reality it is a local planning consultant that will give you the best advice.

    There no way to tell.

Could be completely fine. Could be complete non-option.

Will depend on the development plan. As a guide 100% likely in County Dublin. 0% in the farthest corner of the Gaeltacht, western side, of Achill Island.

Most other places somewhere in between.

If you have the time, patience (of a saint) and the spare cash, apply for planning for a full two storey - if refused you can always re apply for planning for a bungalow with dormers.
