Simon Maher, the guy who started Phantom FM, has an online station called 8Radio.com. This also runs on multi-city temporary licenses most years. It is largely, but not completely, alternative rock oriented. There is already threads about that station on this forum if you do a search.

There is fully licensed Radio Nova for classic rock. It is licensed for Dublin and the commuter belt counties. Online as well of course. There is a thread for Radio Nova as well.

Radio Nova is not a classic rock station. It is more along the lines of Absolute Radio in the UK - safe, radio-friendly guitar driven music from the last six decades. It plays a lot of artists that would never be played on a classic rock station.

Claire Beck on Today FM has an Indie show around 8 till late on Saturday nights. On 2fm on weeknights you've got Jenny Green from 9pm with indie eclectic stuff followed by Dan Hegarty with more indie. Also on weeknights over on RTE lyric you've got John Kelly's Mystery train and over on Radio 1 there's John Creedon which would be sort of classic rock, Irish sort Indie crossover. Apart from Phantom FM which was only ever available in Dublin, Indie has never really featured on daytime playlists. As for classic rock, one man's classic rock is another man's pop

    There's also Zenith Classic Rock:

It is no longer on DAB in Dublin - it had been one of the stations supplied on the former pirate operation FreeDAB.

I think the original poster is referring to lack of rock music on the FM band in Ireland

Phantom has been off the air for seven and a half years at this point.

There simply isn't any demand for the sort of station you're looking for, unfortunately.

If OP can stream from their phone to the car via Bluetooth/CarPlay or something, there is an absolute wealth of worldwide radio stations on TuneIn.

I don’t listen to Irish radio at all because it’s mostly sh1te…. My car has TuneIn installed as a native app so I’ve a few stations I listen to, but none of them are Irish!! The main one is a Lithuanian classic hits station called ‘Gold FM’ which I’d describe as a cross between Nova & Sunshine… but crucially ads and talk are at a minimum..

And doesn't there right there, show how bad things are now on Irish radio as a whole...
