That advert about the world's first road death.

The advert from The RSA says the world's first road death was 1869. What do they mean by this? Is it just the first time it appeared on a death certificate or is it the first death on the road from a powered vehicle? Surely there were loads of people killed on the roads by horse and cart etc.

because someone wants to get promoted, it has every indicator of an initiative undertaken by someone who wants an example for their CV of large project they set up .

the no deaths by 2050 is just ridiculous, fine if RSA intend to put everyone off the road..accidents and deaths unfortunately happen. you can reduce but not eliminate.

Not only is it no road deaths by 2050, its also no serious injuries by 2050.

Now, as much as a stretch it is to have no deaths on the roads in the next 25 years, the idea that there will be no serious injuries is plain daft.

Unless of course cars are automated and there is no human drivers around. That's the only hope. They need challenged on this stupid advert.

The ones about using phones while driving are up to date. I was especially struck by the one where the woman says he ghosted me. "He texted me saying he was in the car driving over to see me". And then nothing.

This simple message is effective.

It might be the lowest but its still too many, didnt something come out about only 7 counties in the country not having road fatalities so far this year! Thats shocking!

Suicide, medical emergency and vehicle failure are not 100% preventable!

We can Try and control drink/drug use, speeding/poor driving, Improve and maintain roads, improve and maintain vehicle safety and road worthiness etc etc etc.

It's gone ballistic in recent months. Wall to wall ads (many of them in Irish) on the radio (I mainly listen to RTE and Lyric) from every State and Semi State organisation in the country!

I wouldn't be greatly surprised if the government had asked every Irish QUANGO to give RTE a taxpayer-funded 'dig out' by buying as many "public information" advertisement slots as they could afford.
