Tipperary and Gaelic Football

What is happening as regards the promotion of Gaelic football in Tipperary.

For such a big county to have not won a senior all Ireland in over a century is a disgrace.

Won a Munster a few years ago but the decline in fortunes has been sharp.

Are they placing all their eggs in the hurling basket?

Currently sitting in joint second last place with London in Division 4 and when Waterford beat them expect them to finish the bottom team in all 4 divisions.

I'm hearing all footballs in North tipp have being punctured and clubs have just stopped bothering taking the game seriously.

Is it time for tipp to enter the British championship?

It's a good question. Here's a county with a strong tradition of playing gaelic football at a high level and they are letting themselves and the sport itself down. I think they should be forced to promote it more and play it more especially in clubs where nobody is interested in it, those people in particular need to be made to play it more. Especially given the gigantic funding they have.

Aren't we lucky we don't have to spend any real money on a senior, under 20 or minor football teams or development squads for footballers as well.

Look at the fools in some of our rival counties, tipp, Wexford, Waterford, Limerick, Clare and even cork wasting money on promotion of football and fielding intercounty football teams when they could just concentrate on the one code like us. And plough all their resources into that one code.

Some might say we have an unfair advantage.

Others might say it is unfair and against the spirit of why the gaa was created, what we are doing.

The 'bigger' hurling players feel the football (lot of dual players) is holding them back. The players are all committing as a group to stick to the Hurling this year and give it a proper go.

Thanks..wise decision probably..very difficult to excel in both codes..with the odd exception obviously

They've won only 1 senior county in my lifetime, most of those barren years had no football played either.

Still doesn't change the fact that it's what they're looking to do this year. All-In on the Hurling and one-last-go for some players.
