Structural Engineer needed? Removal of Chimney

    Hi all. Just got the keys to our new home there last week :) We plan to do a few jobs on the house before we move in. One of these jobs is the removal of the chimney that is located in the centre of the house (3 bed terrace). We are doing this to primarily create space. The chimney is situated between the living room and the kitchen. The chimney juts out in the kitchen and takes up unnecessary space.

    The plan is to remove the chimney and install a wood burner in the living room with the flue pipe running up through the centre of the house and out the roof. The flue will take up less space than the existing chimney and create the space in the kitchen.

    My question is.......do I need a Structural Engineer to sign off on this work?
