Can you use game cameras to catch fly tippers?

Not sure where to post this but since many of us shooters are rural and deal with fly tippers can you use a game camera on your own propety pointed at the road to catch fly tippers.

So long as it is covering either your own land, or public land, or land which can be seen from the road, then I think you are fine.

Obviously making sure that anything within the camera's sightline wouldn't fall into the category of invasion of privacy, like looking over a wall into a neighbours garden, directed at windows etc would not be, but for your purpose that is unlikely to be an issue.

Should be fine then would the council be able to use the evidence captured to issue fines?

I tried this but the cars passing set the camera off so much that the battery died in only two days.

However, the presence of a camera, if it's visible, would deter flytippers whether the battery is dead or not.

I know we want the satisfaction of actually catching the dirty bersterds, but you might have to settle for deterring them.

Yup they would, assuming it captures something actionable(the actual dumping) and identifiable(licence plate etc).

And yup as HazeDoll mentioned, visibility can help.

Even better would be sticking up a sign stating video recording is happening, and have the actual concealed.

The sign is enough to ward off most(people will always look for the softest target), and the camera is a nice backup if it does not.

They can now,as the law was recently changed on using CCTV,Drone and other footage. However there will be a lot of future music involved.Especially when it comes to establishing a solid chain of evidence to get a conviction. You also still need some sort of sold evidence like a name and address in any shape or form dumped out in the rubbish,A solid lic plate number identification and a clear pic of the perpetrator in the action of doing the crime.Quite a lot to ask from a deer camera. in pictures as their IR flash can blind out lic plates at night as well as features if not situated properly.Still the best job for something like this is a guy in a Ghillie suit, with a good camera and pair of eyes on him willing to go into a court stand to give evidence.As I did a good few times in my previous employment.
